Can he get away with crap like that? Tell the story or don't bother.

    Would you care to specify?

If not, I don't see the point in flaming a new school that appears to be cheap, legit, and nearly RA.

OK, Einstein....would you like to state, in English, exactly what your problem is with NCU?

I think it's clear that he is suggesting that the standard of scholarship is so disgracefully low that NCU deserves to be considered a diploma mill.

Alright, I'll buy that as an answer. Now, does he have any specific, easily intelligible proof of this substandard quality? Hopefully if he does, he will share this proof with NCA, the reqional accrediting agency that, by all accounts, seems ready to grant NCU regional accreditation.

    sour grapes?

Could it be that this gentleman has failed a course, or has at least been accused of plagiarism (read his contribution carefully!) and copes with this by rubbishing the university rather than taking an honest look at his own capabilities?

Good understanding of all the terms you listed above will help you during the dissertation phase. I am baffled by your Question #2. As a doctoral student, you should know by now how to cite the source of your information. If you don't know how to do that, you are in serious trouble. Did you fail a course? You haven't said what the problem is.

I've been never a fan of NCU given its poor PhD program in MIS and Computer Science that I believe is not even at the undergrad level. But legal problems? that is going far beyond academic standard.

Heh. I think the "legal problems" may be a law suit soon to be filed by barrows!

I'm very surprised that a doctoral student is unable to present his/her issue into a concise and intelligent discussion.

Barrows, would you like to try this again without the "games" (so we don't have to guess what the issues are)? Presenting a clear issue is very important to starting a worthwhile discussion...

I think that if this was just one assignment out of many, there's nothing wrong with it. In a program where students have different backgrounds, it's probably important to ensure that everyone is on the same page. But if this was the entire final examination, I agree that it's pretty lame for a graduate level class.

I don't think that plagiarism is an issue. The intent here is to have the students generate definitions from out of their own understanding, isn't it?

I completed LS610 late December. This is the first course in the process and it is titled Research Strategies. It is designed to give the student fundamental research practice using on-line database resources. A very appropriate start for many adult learners returning to the classroom after an extended absence. It is also helpful for those who have not completed assignments in APA style.

There was two parts for the final project. The one listed here, although not mentioned, the students were required to expound on the meaning and give examples using APA style formatting not just cut and paste standard definitions. The second part of the final project was the creation of an annotated bibliography with " 20 or more references listed in bibliography. APA-Style used correctly. Annotations written in a clear, concise manner with higher level evaluation, i.e., comparisons, synthesis, analysis, etc." as stated in the syllabus (Northcentral University, 2002.)

It is comparable to the graduate course in research from Nova and as I said before, I regard it as a very appropriate start for adult students who have not conducted research in a long time.

I am not sure where Mr. Barrows lives, but in some civilized countries Internet Defamation constitutes a crime. If NCU owners reside in Australia they could sue this individual for unsubstantiated accusations:

The school has problems and upcoming legal programs

Got any proof in order to justify such an assertion? All you presented was an alleged lack of rigurousity of one of its programs. What about the problems? What about the legal programs (sic)? How did you come up with that? Divine revelation? Spiritism? Tarot?

    Take a look, pal

I can't believe that DegreeInfo administrators don't delete such a grotesque, unfounded accusation against a University that as far as I know it's about to get its regional accreditation.
