This is part of an email I had recently from ABE concerning acceptance of ABE for credits towards Charter Oak, Thomas Edison and Excelsior degrees.

"No news about Charter Oak or the others. To be honest, it is not a
    priority
as we are looking at accreditation from a large number of USA
    universities
affiliated to an organisation called Presnet."

Thank you, Dr. Leeman. Your post came at a very propitious time: I really needed a good laugh! :D :D :D

However, your message (amusing and humorous as it may be) probably did not merit being posted to 2 different threads. It was funny, but not that funny.

Let us remember that the head of ABE for some years was Alan Jones, owner of Fairfax University. One wonders what legacy he left behind. Perhaps one that takes little or no interest in America's three major state-run 100%-non-resident degree-granting schools.

    Don't understand!

I don't understand this thread nor the last posting! I'm aware that the ABE has been mentioned here over the past few months and once made a comment myself but I just don't see where this is going at all!

I am skeptical of Presnet's claim that they can submit your application to 30 US educational institutions for only $50.
Quoting from Presnet's web pages "PresNet will provide a list of colleges and universities that meet your needs and will handle your admission process. PresNet charges a one-time $50.00 processing fee. All other application fees have been waived by our member institutions."
Or are they trying to get students to enroll in Presnets own American National College (in Srilanka)?

The question that I have is: What is the relationship is between Presnet International Educational Services in Anderson South Carolina:

    http://pw1.netcom.com/~presnet/

    http://www.presnet.net/

And the American Council on Education's Presnet, the President's Network for the Education of Teachers:

    http://www.acenet.edu/resources/presnet/index.cfm

    http://www.acenet.edu/resources/presnet/introduction.cfm

They have two different functions: improving teacher education on one hand, and marketing colleges to prospective foreign students on the other. One uses an address in DC, the other an address in South Carolina.

I'm inclined to say that they are two separate things, except for the cryptic mention on the ACE's website that the name 'Presnet' is the registered trademark of the SC group.

The disclaimer is there precisely for the purpose of differentiating the two organizations. The trademark of the Anderson, SC organization is "PresNet" with a capital "N" in the middle (as opposed to PRESNET). It seems as the ACE organization does not want to be mistaken for the Anderson, SC outfit (or be guilty of violating a trademark). However, I sincerely doubt if the opposite is true.

Here's and interesting question: Assuming they enter into some kind of affiliation (with, of course, the Anderson, SC outfit), do you think the ABE is going to go to any great lengths to distinguish between the two?

Or maybe the ABE's affiliation is with the PRESNET that is automated archival system of the Ford Presidential library. :D
