I'm looking for a Doctorate (PHD, MPHIL or DSc) in Engineering.

I have BS in Engineering from a credible university in the US.

I need to get a Doctorate by Research or DL, the only requirment is the University must be brick & mortar type.

I'm willing to do the work but not allot of studying, that I do not have time for.

I'm fulltime employed with family, and assure you the PHD will not change much of what I'm doing know, since I will stay in the same kind of job doing the same think I'm doing now, I.e I will not be in Education or I will not be competeing with Oxford Phd graduates.

Therfore my ideal situation is a Doctorate in Engineering from a credible university with reasnoble amount of work.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    I also am lazy.

If you find a doctoral program from a credible university that won't require a lot of studying, please send me a private message with the details. (Don't reply here -- I'm too lazy to monitor this thread.)

    Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean. But for the last 16 years I have been an engineer with several major corps.

This Doctorat will be a compination of a title and some education. I do not expect my self ever, to be Teaching.

Any help will be appreciated, I also may consider non US schools.

    Thanks to you all,

Unfortunately any PhD from a credible institution will require a lot of work, if you decide to do so be ready to give up week ends, vacations, free time, etc. I would recommend to look for a professional doctorate that is designed for working professionals since your goal is not teaching, some of these doctorates take into consideration work related to your profession and can be completed in less time than a PhD. One doctorate that I know from an Australian institution is the Doctorate of Technology from Deakins University that is a professional type of doctorate. Also, the virtual universities as Capella and Walden have PhDs designed for the working professional. Most of the PhDs at Australian or British universities are designed for university professors and assume that you will dedicate a lot of time to them.

You may want to check out University of Buffalo (UB) as I hear they have done much with the distance learning in Engineering program. I know they are a highly respected brick and mortar engineering school. Good luck.

    Don't do it!

Frankly, if you came to me with the attitude you're offering here I;d tunr you down immediately! I couldnlt care elss that you have otyher commitments, a family, etc, etc...so have most other people doing a worthwhile doctorate (in any country). I've stated this before and I'll do so again! If you are not prepared to be like the best athlete int he world and want to exceed your best then you're not worth a doctorate! Unfortunately, the doctorate is being dumbed down in virtually every country as universities succumb to market demands to introduce 'easy' ways to get doctorates. Tjose of us in the know which are worth something and those which are note! This has nothing to do with degree mills! In fact, I've recently seen a doctoral thesis from an institution people here would label as a 'degree mill' and it would, in my view, have got a doctorate anywhere! I have also recently seen a doctoral thesis from a fully, well known, RA institution that I wouldn't have given time of day to in any shape or form!

I just noticed and you don't have a master. Don't you should be looking for a master's degree first?
