    Hello Everyone,

    I hope all is well!!!

I've made a decision on a MBA program.

I applied to Keller Graduate School of Management. I submitted my application (which is free of charge - you find out if your accepted first then you pay $100 to hold your enrollment which goes towards your tuition), sent my transcript & resume, wrote my essays and toke the Keller admissions test.

I did very well and I was accepted!!! Hooray!!! I feel Keller is a solid program, it's not rushed (I should be finish in a year and a half), it wasn't super easy to get into, it offers a online structure (which I need because I travel alot), the staff did not rush & hound me (like AIU but I'll get to that), they offer several master degrees and concentrations, they have centers all over United States (just in case I want to speak with someone face to face while I'm traveling - I can), regionally accredited (also a member of AACSB - I know its not the same but you have to become a member first before you get accredited) and last but not least they had marketing as a concentration. Keller is slightly expensive but when I weighted my options the program's price is ok. AIU is 22K for only 8 months, so technically that is very very expensive and most AACSB program are expensive (Umass, Seton Hall, Drexel, Penn State, Ohio U etc) are very very expensive between 22K - 60K.

SO, I felt that Keller was a great choice for me -

FYI - Ok, concerning AIU Online - not the slight the program in any way but their admissions staff is the worst. I was concerning AIU Online about a month ago - I spoke to a Admission Rep concerning the program just to ask some questions. Well the conversation became a interview then she convince me to just to fill out the information/application just as an assessement and she would review it - of course I filled it out (because she was so forceful I told her I would be back to her - but she keeped on) so I called her the next today and told her I need more time then she went on and on why this why that - I said it's my education I want to make sure I'm making the right choice (boy I shouldn't of said that)

Then she said why are you trying to put it off if you don't do it now then you'll never do it - If you don't do it now then I can't gurantee if you will be considerated for the program. I felt that the program might be a good program and I didn't want to miss out on the program so I pay my $50 and completed my application.

I figured I would hold my spot in the program - just in case - but I was still looking at other programs. So, I was accepted into the AIU program the second week of Dec. 2002.

The term doesn't start until Feb. 17th 2003.

    Then,

I decided not the attended AIU on January the 6th (because of the way they were hounding me - calling me 3 to 5 times a day and I choose another program) I called AIU to let them know - I spoke to my Admission advisor and she wented on and on and on why why why. I told her I had personal/family issues - if I told the truth they would hound me more.

Nevertheless, she told me it would be difficult to get out of the program. Now, I'm thinking WHAT WHAT the - I haven't taken a course the first or nothing I WANT OUT thats all - they can't make me take classes - the term hasn't even start yet - CAN THEY DO THAT TO ME. I signed an agreement to attend but thats once the term starts - I just can't get my application fee back. Maybe I did something wrong.

Well, I've typed enough - I speak the head enrollement advisor tomorrow. BUT I'M GETTING OUT!!!

    Please Comment!!!

    Why did'nt you try Touro?

You can even now try Liberty University (1 week residency).

AIU looks like they are desperate to get students and if not atleast to make money on Admission fee.

    Who was the Rep?

Hey, i've had an awesome experience with AIU's reps.
There were two I spoke with, forgot the name of the guy, but the lady rep wasn't hounding me at all.

Lady rep treated me nicely, however; the male rep was a bit of a hound, but not as bad as some other schools. As you may know already, AIU is a stock market company, they make money any way they can.

Several stock education companies pay their admissions reps commisions only, this could be the main reason why.

I still do get emails from them ads, but no phone calls because i've told them that i've already decided on my program.

I'm currently at JIU (Jones International University) which is completely online. I read about this on Dr Bear's degree.net website, it appealed to me, so now i'm a student of their Graduate certificate in Internet Business.

I don't think it's too much of an issue, I only think you're just charged the application fee and nothing else, to make sure, you should contact the admission rep directly again. You may want to speak with another rep from the admissions office.

Resolve this ASAP, hope all goes well.

JIU Student (Grad cert in Ecomm/Inet Business)

    Re: Who was the Rep?

You are right. Students often complain when they have not done the all the right things or when they have not used the right approach. I don't know how AIU conducts its day-to-day business but I know that if email fails to work, I will try the telephone. One of the two must work.

I am sorry to hear that, but it does come as a surprise. I am now into my 3rd term with AIU and have been very pleased with the Admissions team, and all faculty for that matter. Very impressed with their honesty and devotion to each individual students success. My advisor sends me inspirational notes each week to help me motivated in class, the instructors have all been outstanding so far, and the admissions team was wonderful, patient, understanding and thoughtful. Took me almost 7 months to make up my mind between schools, and the ultimate reason I chose AIU over several others like Phoenix, Jones and Argosy, was the admissions gentleman I was dealing with.
