What avenues or advantages will I benefit from in pursuing a DBA over an MBA?

Depends on your goals. Working in industry, not much. Working in academia, quite a lot.

Do you mean a DBA in addition to an MBA? Or instead of one?

One normally takes an MBA (or similar degree) prior to pursuing a DBA.

Should an MBA take a DBA? Well, it depends on the circumstances. If it can enhance one's career--more likely in academia, less so in the business world--perhaps. But there are so many variables to this kind of decision that it is difficult to encapsulate into a generic "yes or no" response.

It is doubtful one obtains much more in the way of business skills from a DBA beyond the MBA. But the opportunities exist to pursue more strategic approaches to business management and problem-solving are offered, as well as the chance to pursue a business-related problem or opportunity, then develop a solution for it. But you pay for it in terms of time and money--in a big way.
