I have a friend who has about 2 years of the basic college courses behind him and is looking for a degree in industrial distribution or a closly related field. Are there any US RA schools where this can be completed through distance learning? If there is anyone here from NC that is familar with a program like this for working adults in NC, that would be helpful as well. Thanks for the help and advice!!

I would recommend that a more general degree be sought such as business, engineering technology, or quality assurance. Specialist degrees can limit ones opportunities as ones career develops.

East Carolina has a program in industrial technology that might fit. Aslo NCSU has two programs, one in industrial engineering and one in industrial/construction technology that come close.

It sounds like the major your friend would be looking for is either transportation & logistics, or logistics alone. This is typically a specialization of a business major, sometimes found under marketing specializations.

I do not know of any place other than TESC where that specific degree can be earned through distance learning alone, but there is difficulty in finding the courses specific to the major. He might talk to the University of Wisconsin - Superior, which offers a T & L major and also an Extended Degree program; it's possible they are developing some distance courses that would meet his needs that could then be transferred to TESC. (I get that impression because of the direct links from the T & L major page to the Continuing Ed page.)

    Good luck!
