    Ooh--tough one, Shana...

But at the outset, would you kindly clarify your status? You have a "diploma" and are seeking only the "degree year" to gain your Bachelors? As an ignorant American, I simply don't know how this works.... (Ah! jump to middle of this post.)

You seek we're already talking different languages! The US method of degree earning is called the course-unit method--said to be growing in popularity in the UK. But the annual or year-end exam method is quite foreign to the US.

Now, immediately, it comes to mind that your situation might most easily and readily be addressed by a Canadian university since their systems are less removed from UK traditons by time and institutional circumstance. for example, I believe Athabasca University in northern Alberta, but billed as "Canada's leading distance-education and online university: 'Canada's Open University,'" will prove helpful for you to know about...

    They are also partnered with
"The Canadian Virtual University for the distance education programs" which includes "thirteen collaborating Canadian Universities."

This means access to "some 250 programs...currently included in the CVU database."
    -----------------------
My quick read of their site informs me that "diploma" is an intermediate-level designation (certificate, and then to American's confusion, Bachelor of Arts (three year) general degree or with concentration, and Bachelor of Arts (four year) with major).
It sounds like your diploma is the American equivalent of the AA (Associate of Arts) degree, which fills the same purpose.
Check them out and give us some more details, please, and others on this board are likely to be more forthcoming with other suggestions.

AND unfortunately, AU lacks specialization in your interest areasl however, British Columbia Open University does have a "bachelors in design"

Furthermore it states that "This program is available to applicants residing in Canada or outside Canada."
Another page accessed through the CVU database shows that BCOU also offers a "bachelors in fine arts:" art history, though mostly studio arts.

I myself am interested in these subject, and I know that distance learning in Art History is rarely accomodated anywhere. The best US possibilities may be a self-designed degree that would be similar in content to AH or a combination of courses overlapping your interest, needs and opportunities.

Otherwise, couldn't you exercise your rights of citizenship in Ireland (EU member? or is that pending? Or is UK citizenship enough?) and check out Great Britain's Open University for the Art History degree program?
