Jimmy Clifton mentions that GSST is a DETC candidate as of May. I do not see anything on their web site about it.

If it is true, I assume they will have to drop doctoral programs.

I also wonder why they did not try for TRACS accreditation which would have made more sense. Did they feel they would not be able to qualify for TRACS but would for DETC?

I know that GSST is somewhere in the process with DETC, but don't know how far they have gotten.

They will drop their doctoral programs if they receive this accreditation.

A number of years ago GSST was close to receiving TRACS accreditation before their Academic dean became ill and there were some other problems I don't know the details of. The school shut down for awhile, and when they came back on the scene they became a distance learning only school. TRACS requires a certain percentage of students to be in residence (I think 50%). Also, I was told that TRACS was much more expensive but I don't have any first hand knowledge of that.

Note that DETC candidates cannot advertise the fact. It can only come from 3rd parties. That is why it is not on the website.

I understand now that they are in the application process and indeed will have to drop doctoral programs eventually.

TRACS has fairly strict criteria (including number of full time faculty, residential program, and library holdings). This was (as I understand from the other forum or here.....can't remember) President Shumake of Bethany Divinity School's complaint with TRACS. I suppose in a sense he has a point. Touro, NCU all non residential. I do not know if UIU has huge library holdings or many full time faculty either. I suppose it is a sort of quality control for TRACS necessary that may not be *as* necessary for RA due to the perceived difference in status.
