Being a little new to all this, I have a couple of questions. I have zero (0) college credits, but a lifetime of experience and training.
I know most colleges require some degree (no pun intended) of previous college credit before I am admitted.

    1. Can I use portfolio credit to satisfy the general education requirements such as English and Algebra or do I need to test out with CLEP?

    2. Which would be the best way to proceed? Most of my training I believe would be best suited for upper level credit but I need to satisfy lower level. I am looking to obtain first an associate degree in business then a BS.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Bird

Welcome to Degreeinfo. The portfolio method can definately work to gain credit for a Bachelor's degree. For most, using portfolios is more time consuming and results in less credits than using CLEP/DANTES tests. Have you had a chance to read Lawrie Miller's website? I believe most adults could CLEP out of a degree within a year of focused partime work. It would be very hard to do the same with portfolios. Is there an area you would like to do a degree in? Any idea what school you want to enroll in? These questions will help you to answer your question. Good luck!
