My second post and I'm on to my next step at TESC. Thanks to Hille , Orson , Randell 1234, 4Q , Steve King and Steve Levcoff for your insight and assistance on my last post.

My current status at TESC and in general. I have two A.S. degrees. One in Communications and Media Arts and the other in Mechanical Design.

TESC was more than helpful before they got my 4 grand ( Which I am sending this week ) with a pre -eval. If I was to go after my BS for Business I would need to complete 65 additional credits since I had very little business courses for transfer. For my BA I have to complete 40 additional credits. TESC did accept 77 ( I am going to challange 3 additional ) for a total of 80 which is the max.

I've decided to go with the BA / Humanities / Commuications ( Lib. Arts ).

Here is a break down of my evaluation:

    A. English Comp. ( Complete )

    B. Humanities ( Complete )

    C. Social Science ( In Progress )
Intro Psych , Culture II were accepted for 6 credits
    Need to complete 6 credits

    D. Math ( Complete )

    E. Natural Science ( In Progress )
Algebra and Trig were accepted for 4 credits
    Need to complete 5 credits

    F. General Education Electives ( Not Started )
    Need to complete 18 credits

    G. BA Lib Studies / Communications ( In Progress )
Amer. Fam Lit Film , Speech Intern , Visual Comm , TV Production , Interpersonal Comm , Intro Broadcasting were all accepted for a total of 18 credits
    Need to complete 15 credits

I welcome advise / assistance in being creative in my direction for completion of my 40 ( 43 ) credits.

    1. Does anyone have a link to many colleges that have the course descriptions on line for completion of possible portfolios.

    2. Understanding my eval , what courses would you go after for completion in the most timely way. ( TESC Testing , Portfolio , or On Line ) Being new to all of this , your "lessons learned " would be helpful.

    3. Could anyone explain the TESC rule for the "100 , 200 ,300 , 400 level courses and how that impacts me. ( One thing I didn't have a chance to get into on the phone yet with TESC )

    4. I'm always looking ahead...many commented on my last post for a possible Masters direction once my BA is complete....any suggestions for that step ( I know , one step at a time but don't want any grass to grow under my feet )

Thanks in advance for any insight.........have a good day/ night

Good Morning, There are two free courses through the US Fire Academy that could fill in some specific needs . They are one credit each I believe upper level. Print format. You must send in a registration (Free). They are ACE approved. On another discussion board I saw the following. www.onlinehumanities.com . Supposedly colleges accept some of the credits. I saw one on the list that is RA. It deserves a little investigation. I hope this adds to what you alrealdy know. I imagine your transcript will be easy to fill. If you pursue the FEMA -Fire Academy courses and knock off around twenty. I think you could possibly make the May graduation if you really push it. Hille

    >C. Social Science ( In Progress )
    >Intro Psych , Culture II were accepted for 6 credits
    >Need to complete 6 credits

CLEP Social Science & History (6 credits)

Or 2x 3 credit exams in other related areas,
there are many to choose from.

    >E. Natural Science ( In Progress )
    >Algebra and Trig were accepted for 4 credits
    >Need to complete 5 credits

    CLEP Natural Sciences (6 credits)

    >F. General Education Electives ( Not Started )
    >Need to complete 18 credits

Just about any CLEP or DANTE exams ... HINT:
Consider related topics, like American History
that may cover some of the same material as
found in other exams that you prepare for.

    >G. BA Lib Studies / Communications ( In Progress )
    >Amer. Fam Lit Film , Speech Intern , Visual Comm ,
    >TV Production , Interpersonal Comm , Intro
    >Broadcasting were all accepted for a total of
    >18 credits Need to complete 15 credits

Lots of testing options here ... watch that you have
the correct number of upper level courses here ...

Don't overlook the TESC exams ... they were very useful
in filling in some of the blanks for my academic plan.

Tho it varies from degree program to degree program,
you must have a certain number of "upper level" courses.
In other words for your major, you can not use 11 different
100 level courses. Most CLEP exams are 100 level, many
DANTE are 200 level or higher, Most TECEPs are 300 or
higher <or were 'way back when'>. So keep this in mind.

Actually this is a wise move ... Dream big, and then contact
those Masters level schools NOW, and see exactly what they
will expect as to prior undergrad course work. Then, go back
and make 100% sure that your present academic plan will
allow for a smooth entry into the Masters program you desire.

Use the electives to make sure you have the background
needed. I did this with the graduate schools I was interested
in, and was very pleased with their suggestions and input.
