I was pre-ordering the 15th version of Dr. Bear's book. I was not sure how to contact Dr. Bear, but they have a typo on Amazon - not sure if it is a big deal, but wanted to pass it on. It is pasted below: The second distance is Distnace.

"Bear's Guide to Earning Degrees by Distance Learning (Bear's Guide to Earning Degrees by Distnace Learning) ".

Sorry if this is insignificant, but going through essays and applications, I know that can make or break things in acceptance. Not sure who to contact at Amazon, so wanted to get it on the boards for Dr. Bear.

Thanks Kristie: Barnes & Nobles is also selling the 15th edition. I checked on the B&N website yesterday

Thanks, Kristie. I'll pass that along to the publisher. I guess in trying to keep track of 7 million books, they make a few errors. For the longest time, they listed my daughter and me as "John Ph.D. and Mariah Bear MA" and insisted that PhD was my last name and MA was hers.

Oops! The book is available for pre-ordering from Books a Million.Com not Barnes and Nobles. Sorry about that.

The publisher told me this morning that the 15th edition is done, on a truck somewhere in the midwest, and will be in the warehouse next Friday, January 10th.

    Amazon

I sometimes write reviews for Amazon books. I wrote a good one for Dr Bear a while back. Recently I wrote a review of a book (on Ethiopia) by another author. The book was very trivial. I gave it a two star rating and Amazon published my review. Later Amazon removed my review but kept two other reviews that had granted 5 stars, adding that the average review ratings was five stars. This has of course nothing to do wiuth Dr Bear's most recent issue but says something about Amazon.

    That's disturbing information, Dr. Leeman.

From time to time, diploma mill operators flood Amazon with very negative reviews of my books. Amazon is very good at removing them fairly promptly. My guess is that choose to err on the side of supporting authors (who complain about bad reviews), rather than try to mediate a dispute.

It is the afternoon of January 7th, and I have an actual BG 15 in my hand.

Intriguingly, the cover is one I don't remember seeing before. Perhaps there should be a contest to figure out who the three people photographed are. My first try is Condoleezza Rice, Lamar Alexander, and Alex Rodriguez.

I started reading the guides from 9th edition and wow this one is 15th.

    Thanks
