I am looking for anyone who has some experience of transferring credits from an accredited African University to any one of the "Big Three" colleges. I would like to know what it was like and how things worked out. Thanks in advance for sharing,

    Patrick

Good Morning, I know that TESC has a relationship with African Colleges and Universities. You may not need to got through the additional expense of a foriegn credit evaluation. Be prepared to be patient if you go this route and document every conversation. Hille

Sorry for the poor spelling. (Pre-coffee and no glasses). Have a wonderful Thursday. Hille

Hille - I think you are referring to the relationship between the University of South Africa and Thomas Edison? I am not sure if Thomas Edison has other relationships with schools on the continent and I do not know of anyone who has transferred credit to TESC from Unisa. I can find out when the Unisa staff returns from the holidays.

Patrick, can you be more specific about the school in Africa please?

Patrick - I just read your other post. I have no experience with Tanzania, but you may need to go through one of the credit evaluation services as Hille suggests. I am sure others may have some experience with this.

I will check with Unisa anyway with regard to the procedures with TESC. The answer may be of some help to you and others here.

    Thanks again...

John and Hille, thanks for the input.
I think I am now leaning more towards TESC and have already received their admission application packet. I will be requesting my transcript from the University of Dar - es - Salaam tomorrow. It should take me probably 3weeks to get it. Hopefully, I will be able to submit my application before the end of January. I will keep you posted on the outcome. I do have one more question, can I submit a portfolio after gaining admission or do I have to submit it with the application? I greatly appreciate your advice.

Patrick, if you are submitting a portfolio to TESC, you should do so after your admission AND after reading their portfolio guide.

As far as transfer credit, TESC uses the ACE (American Council on Education) and other professional guidelines for the evaluation of credit from foreign colleges and universities. My guess is that you will have no problem with most of your credits (especially since yours are from an established university), but it may take some time for them to do the evaluation.

    Makes sense...

Levicoff, thank you for clearing the portfolio submission issue. I will follow your advice.
