Thanks again to the forum: I'm curious about Macquarie's MA in Modern History. My questions go like this: 1.) After searching the degreeinfo archives, it doesn't appear this program has been discussed anywhere here, although it's on Lawrie Miller's website. Does anyone have significant input on this program? Has anyone else on this forum done a similar MA at Macquarie? 2.) I'm interested in a reasonable MA in something close enough to my previous studies to teach at a junior college here in CA after I finish @ Excelsior (probably early Feb., 2003). Correct me if I'm wrong, but the coursework appears to line up with your traditional US B&M MA in History. I may have to negotiate with them to get around the prereq's, but my MA in Old Testament included a significant Ancient Near East history component. That may actually let me in and allow for some transfer credit if I chose to go this route. Chris
Re: NO TAKERS??? As you pointed out, it has not got much play here, and probably few students browse this site. Now if you had asked about the CSUDH MA in Humanities External you would have gotten a better reply rate.
Yes, I understand Mike. I actually applied to CSUDH HUX, but decided not to do it because it wasnt' specialized enough. that's just about the only reason I can think of not to do the HUX program. Ironically, I'm still considering FHSU's MLS with a specialization in English, a few more credits (if I'm not mistaken) than CSUDH would give to those who choose a "specialization" like Music or Literature. Have you considered Excelsior's M.A. program? I'm wondering if you have checked out Excelsior's M.A. program. You can have 12 credits in history plus 3 in English, or vice-versa. Plus a thesis combining the two. We have had a number of students use our degree toward community college teaching.
