I found a link from the Villanova web site to UA (University Alliance) aka Bisk Education. All I know, for certain, is that their site causes my browser to crash continually.

Why not call the number and find out whether the certificate is, in fact, awarded by Villanova or otherwise?

Monkey: if it is by Villanova it is legitimate. Villanova is a real university (RA and RC, too):D near Philadelphia.

Good Morning, Villanova University has a wonderful campus and reputation. I check the website and it seems that it is the REAL Villanova. I recently saw something like this program at NJIT. I will check to see if it is 100 percent dl. Have a good day. Hille

I'd like to continue this discussion...hopefully John Bear or one of the other dungeon masters will chime in.

I just chatted with a Nova rep online. The certs are not for credit, but you can pay an additional $100 and get a proctored exam set up that will give you undergraduate credit through ACE (American Council on Education, I think?). I asked him if Villanova accepted ACE credits and he said I'd "have to check with them about that." Didn't sound good. None of the Nova programs are masters level and they have no plans to offer a complete MBA online. Also, the online certs are offered through Nova's continuing ed department, not through the business school. The programs actually look pretty nice, but boy are they pricey!! $2,000 for one 8-week finance and accounting course!

Is Nova that reputable a school? I have heard it is top-notch...would one of these certs look really good on a resume/cv? They market these programs to death, and I am scared that they are overdoing it, just trying to make a buck. Has anybody got any firsthand experience with these programs or their benefits to the job seeker? Thanks...

Villanova is a fine school. A friend of mine (we are both PMPs) used the Villanova course to prep for the exam. There are several good Project Management programs. Do a search on the forum, I posted several. UW-Plattville provides 6 graduate hours if you are a PMP towards their Masters in Project management.

Amberton (as well as a bunch of others) has a 4 class certificate that can be had as undergraduate or graduate and will work into several of their degrees. But Amberton is only $200 per credit so it is a good deal. $200 times 12 credits = $2400 for a graduate certificate as opposed to the Villanova program that doesn't carry academic value.

For name value check out Stanford's certification (nonacademic credit)

    http://apm.stanford.edu/certProgram.html

While all these certificates are worthwhile they are not a replacement for the PMP Certification. If you are looking towards PM check out the PMI website

    www.pmi.org

    also,

Western Carolina University has a 6 class (6 credits per) Masters in PM that is AACSB accredited. Expensive if you don't live in the area though.
