I'm looking to start back to school and the online classes seem to be the best option for me. I've looked at some schools, and I'm down to two. Devry University and St Leo University. These are two completely different types of schools. I'd like some imput from people that have taken classes with either one of them. Also any thoughts on how well accepted their degrees are. St Leo's is a tradditional school, so I'm not too concerned about their reputation. How does the business world see Devry?

    Thanks

    Hey John,

No one else answered in regards to your Devry question, so I will give you what limited info I have. I know they have an ASET and BSET program (which both, I believe, are ABET accredited). Where I work (semiconductor industry) there a quite a few Devry grads. Usually, you will see the two year degree grads working on the floor as technicians/operators and a few BSET grads working as lead techs, managers, engineers, etc. (depending on level of experience of course). So, as far as their technology degrees, they are definately accepted in the industry.

The only online degrees they have, however, is an IT degree, some technical management degree, and a couple other business degrees. I am sure they are good programs. I am not sure just how expensive Devry is (I think they may be a little on the expensive side). So, if you are looking for a business or an IT degree, there may be a cheaper alternative (IT and business are two very popular degree programs).

    Well thats all I have!

    Best Regards,
    Bill

PS. What program were you interested in?

Thanks for the reply Bill. I'm interested in a CIS program. Devry offers BS in Business with a concetration in Business Info Systems. I had a look at their curriculum and it looks solid. They are regionally accredited, but I'm concerned about the reputation of profit driven schools. My primary goal is to find a school with a solid reputation and is accepted in the business community.

I'm still researching schools, any recommendations on CIS programs? The cost isn't that big of a deal as my employer does 100% reimbursement. There seem to be a lot of shady schools out there, I just need some help weeding thru them.

    Thanks

    John

Degreeinfo contributor Gus Sainz has created a resource that you might find helpful. It's an annotated listing of online bachelors programs in business related subjects, including CIS. All of the schools that he lists are legit, but they vary tremendously in options offered, cost, delivery format, flexibility and stuff. Check it out:

    John,

I'm soon to graduate with the BS in IS from UMass Lowell which is essentially a CIS degree. I have nothing but good things to say about the progam. It can be pursued entirely online.
