I have two friends who have twice failed online statistics at International College (each class was 15 weeks long). They need a “statistics” class to obtain a bachelors degree and it appears that this one class is an impediment. Can you give me some recommendations on how to help them obtain a RA statistics class so they can graduate? Any help is much appreciated.
DANTES (DSST) offers a 3 hour credit exam, Principles of Statistics http://www.getcollegecredit.com/NEWFACTSHEETS/Principles%20of%20Statistics.pdf Hope this helps! Billy AA, BA - TESC MBA - Touro Ph.D. Student - Touro
IMO, statistics is one of those things that, if you're not good at math, should be taken in a classroom with close faculty support. I'd advise your friends to take a stats class at a local community college, but make sure it will satisfy their school's requirements before enrolling. Bruce
Yes Bruce, it does help. And you're probably right: He even suggested taking stats the traditional way at our community college. I will forward to him all of your advise and my agreement with it. Thanks!
aa4nu, I'll forward to them the link. The worst they can do is fail (again)... and then go to the community college.
Excellent Statistics Tutorial This site is excellent for statistics - well, research in general. HUGE site full of information!! Trochim's Site Of special note: the Knowledge Base and Selecting Statistics.
WHEE! Thanks GBrown! This is wunnerful wunnerful stuff for a maths idiot (me) staring blankly at a research methods course. The Carpathian peasant will give you the whole bottle of tuica if you show up (face up) on his humble doorstep, AND a clean glass, too (I don't do that for everybody). Multumesc foarte mult, good buddy!
Depending on the major - I wasa a Business Major, and has a stats class, both Sac State and our local community college offer "business stats", which is a watered down version of a stats class.
Re: Excellent Statistics Tutorial Whoa, that looks like an excellent site for a student who is about to do a paper that involves some statistical analysis!!!
