    Guys,

I just enrolled in the MBA program and it looks fairly straight forward. I do have question about formatting the various papers I will write. The student handbook gives limited guidance on margins and spacing and makes no usable information on page numbering and fonts and other areas.

Is there a place I can view papers that Touro students submitted? The subject is not important as I'm only looking for style cues and I have no intention of plagorizing anyone's work.
I don't know if Touro follows MLA style or what.

    Little Help?

    Thanks,

    4Q

I'm assuming you've already seen TUI's Style Sheet. It specifies the margins, that Health Sciences students need to use APA format, what goes on the title page, etc. Papers are generally 12-point, Times New Roman font, double spaced. I placed my page numbers at the bottom center of every page.

If you need more information, just let me know. (You can send a private message through this board.) I will be glad to send you a couple of pages from one of my papers.

I'll second the other Steven King...TUI's stylesheet will help you out...and I'll extend the same offer to send a few pages of one of my papers if it helps.

    Kindly,

    me too

4q, I am in the same boat. This is my first course at Toruo too. What are you enrolled in presently ?.

Also, this is for both the Steves.

I know we have corresponded in the past on the thread I had written for queries regarding Touro and you guys have been great help along with others. I am trying to draft my case study and have gone thru the stylesheet etc.

However, I would appreciate if you can extend the offer to send a couple of sample pages to me also.

If it is diferent for case study and SLP then please include those samples. It will be a great help.

    Thanks
    Jarin

No problem. Ditto for me, send me a private message with your e-mail address and I'll be glad to send you some of my work. I can't just send it to you via a private message on this board because those messages are limited in size/length.

    Re: me too

    Hey Jarin,

I'm enrolled in Bus 401- International Business. Since my BA is not business-related, 401 is the one preparatory course I have to take for my MBA. What are you taking?

I have a feeling Steve and Steven are going to be guiding lights for us. But then again, I suppose that's what this board is all about. If it weren't for the people here, I might still be slaving away at my BA.

    Guiding Light

    4Q -

Thanks for your kind words...I have always believed in passing along the wealth. You'll enjoy your journey toward your MBA - it will go much faster than you believe.

Since I enrolled in the MBA program with other than a Business background, I too, took BUS 401 as a prerequisite. Give this class its just due and I'm sure you'll come to appreciate global business and e-commerce more greatly.

As always, if I can help any of you along the way, I am happy to oblige.

    Kindly,
    Steven King

    Entered Touro Ph.D. Program

I just wanted to extend my thanks to the boards for the information I have received in the last few weeks. I finally decided on Touro to pursue my Ph.D. in Business Administration. After long deliberation and research, I was very comfortable with the program. The flexible schedule, courses available, and economics were appealing. They have been very helpful and kind in the enrollment process. After reading the posts and answers to my questions I feel comfortable with the accreditation and reputation in the DL world. I'm excited and look forward to the education adding to my business acumen. Being a Program Director/Instructor for Marketing at a junior college, I look forward to the degree assisting in my growth in academia. Thanks again and I will keep posted.

    Entered Touro Ph.D. Program

    Ed,

Congratulations on making this decision. The coursework for the PhD is presented in the same format as the MBA, but of course, you'll be expected to produce significantly better research (I hope). I haven't enrolled in Touro's PhD (but I'm considering it) - I will probably go the route of PhD in Health Sciences if I choose that way.

My dilemma is how to marry my theological interests to healthcare. Hospital chaplaincy is looking more and more appealing and would substantiate many more years of unfettered distance educational pursuits.

    Kindly,
    Steven King

    4Q,

Sorry for the late reply. I was at work and just got back and saw your posting. I too am supposed to take the pre-req for business (as I don't have the business background either). I am however currently enrolled in ETH501 and BUS508. The reason was that I had registered almost on the last day at Touro and they were not sure I needed those 2 pre-reqs courses at that time (transcript evaluation). So I enrolled in ETH501 and BUS508. Later, I came to know that I am supposed to take those but classes wer about to begin. I will take the course you are taking later. Do keep in touch with your progress.

Also,I agree with you. Both Steve and Steven have been great help. They have taken time out of their busy schedule to help people like us who have just started.

    Hats off to them.

    Theological/Health Care Coice

    Steve:

It is a difficult decision. As a person who worked in the healthcare sales field with large hospitals and physicians, I understand the difficulty in marrying a healthcare field and theological career. My brother-in-law is a Catholic Priest and his theological education was a long and dedicated course. Hopefully the opportunity in a religious heathcare organization may allow opportunities to pursue this course. Good Luck and I appreciate your help with DL advice.

    Re: Entered Touro Ph.D. Program

I will attest to that - a significant difference in the quantity and quality of your research is expected at this level. The research classes are quite in-depth. You will learn to think differently. You will approach a problem differently. It is difficult to describe, but you will know what I mean after you go through this transition.

The material is presented in the same manner as the MBA, but in structure only (five modules: each with a case study, session long project, and threaded discussion or enhanced case study). Class content is quite different. MBA classes are structured to get the students thinking about leadership and management. PhD classes are structured to get the students thinking about research. While some classes focus on "Leadership and the CEO," there is a significant research requirement. You won't simply learn more leadership skills, you will learn to think about how you can develop new and interesting ways to use the leadership skills (i.e. create a new paradigm).

    Touro thoughts

Thank you for your advice and information concerning the content of the Ph.D. Program. I appreciate it. Any other thoughts on success strategies for a newly enrolled student. I enrolled today and am looking forward to getting off on the right footing. Thanks

Re: Re: Question for for those with Touro experience...

    Hi Steven,
Have you looked at the ACCS D.Min in Counseling. It is TRACS accredited and acceptable for Army Chaplins -- I am not sure whether it is accepted by the College for Chaplins or the Pastoral Counseling Association. Good Luck!

  17. Also could use Touro style example...

I'm following this discussion, and I'm about to enroll in the Touro MBA program for spring, possibly summer. If you don't mind copying me on the email with the example of a style sheet / paper that was acceptable, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: Re: Re: Question for for those with Touro experience...

    Howard,
Sorry for the late reply - working night shift is for the birds. I didn't realize that TRACS was acceptable for military chaplains. By acceptable do you mean there's a likelihood that chaplains can advance their careers with an ACCS degree - or do you believe that an ACCS degree can help launch a military chaplain career. If it's the latter, please share a link that specifies such acceptance. I scanned the ACCS website and could find no mention of utility for the chaplaincy.

    Kindly,
    Steven King
