Subject: A Singular Opportunity from Trinity's President

    Dear Rev. Barnes III,

Because you have requested that we provide you with a Personal Academic Evaluation, I realize that you have a serious interest in continuing your education. For this reason, I am pleased to present a singular opportunity that will quite literally make it possible for you to convert your interest into reality.

FIRST, I want to share with you seven reasons why Trinity is unique so that you will be able to fully appreciate the extraordinary opportunity that is available to you.

    1. We did not jump on the band wagon of the highly popular Theological Distance Education wave. Back in 1969, we actually started the revolution and pioneered what is now a respected and preferred method for ministry education. We did not follow, we led!

    2. We were the first Theological school to fully apply the technology revolution. In 1995, our TDELTA CompuServe Forum was the first fully integrative virtual campus open to Bible College and Seminary students around the world.

    3. The first complete interactive catalog to be placed on the Internet by a distance education Bible College or Seminary was a Trinity catalog. Many others have imitated us, but we have set the standard by doing it first, and doing it best.

    4. Trinity was the first college or seminary anywhere to provide a complete confidential academic and financial evaluation totally online to anyone anywhere in the world. Even though it has since become a standard for institutions with online connections, it all started with Trinity.

    5. No other American Bible College and Seminary has ever been endorsed and accredited by a world-class British University. Not only were we the first, we remain the only one to achieve this historic recognition! A Trinity degree carries the accredited seal of either the University of Liverpool or Canterbury Christ Church University College!

    6. Trinity is the only Bible College or Seminary to ever achieve accreditation by the National Association of Private Nontraditional Schools and Colleges (NAPNSC). Even though NAPNSC is itself still trying to break through the restrictions imposed by outdated ideology, it remains a fact that Trinity alone among theological schools has been able to meet NAPNSC's difficult accreditation criteria.

    7. Trinity is the first fully free-standing Distance Education Seminary to have its graduates widely accepted in all fields of ministry and higher education.

Trinity graduates are teachers, pastors, missionaries, college faculty and staff, administrators, business leaders, evangelists, and leaders in the Christian community around the world.

Joining these graduates are over 9,000 current students from all parts of the world who have found a Trinity degree program the ideal opportunity to complete the degree they need without being required to sacrifice their ministry or their family. And this has been going on for over three decades!

    NOW FOR THAT SINGULAR OPPORTUNITY!

Trinity is currently engaged in several processes that will once again establish us as the innovation leader in Theological Distance Education.

While we are not at liberty to disclose the precise nature of these advances, we can acknowledge that the cost of doing so will result in adjustments to our tuition, financing and enrollment plans. That's why I am sending you this message. There will never be a better time to enroll in a Trinity degree program.

In fact, we are taking what is a very brief window of opportunity to offer...a singular opportunity (another first)...which will literally make it possible for you to realize your educational goal.

If You Apply and Register for a Trinity Degree Program Before December 31, 2002, You Will Be Entitled to Select One of the Following Options...

    1. Pay your tuition in full and we will waive your $50.00 Application Fee, AND you will receive a 10% tuition discount **in addition** to any grant or scholarship you have already qualified for, AND you will receive FREE textbooks for your first three courses!

    2. Pay 50% of your tuition and we will reduce the $50.00 Application Fee to $25.00, AND you will receive a 5% tuition discount **in addition** to any grant or scholarship you have already qualified for, AND you can divide the remaining tuition into 24 monthly payments INTEREST FREE, AND you will receive FREE textbooks for your first two courses!

    3. Make a $300.00 tuition down payment after you have applied any grant or scholarship you have already qualified for, AND you can divide the remaining tuition into 24 monthly payments WITH ONLY a 1/2% per month [6% per annum] interest charge, AND you will receive FREE textbooks for your first course!

***AND ALSO PLEASE NOTE: These options are intended to interface with any other special arrangements you may have already received. Therefore, it is critical that you contact your admissions counselor right away!

PLEASE ACT NOW! There will never be a better opportunity to enroll in a Trinity degree program!

Your Admissions Counselor is Tom Bartlett.

Since the time-line for this wonderful opportunity is so brief, it is recommended that you contact him as soon as possible by calling 1-800-457-5510.   If that is not possible, then please contact him by e-mail at [email protected] The key is to act as soon as possible!

Finally, as you already know from previous correspondence you have received from Trinity, the deeper issue here is whether God is leading you to take a step of faith, and follow His leading concerning your theological education.

While I cannot personally know if God is leading you to Trinity, I do know that the singular opportunity presented to you now is extraordinary, unique, and without precedent, and will be yours for only a very brief time.
My hope and prayer is that this opportunity and God's leading have come together for your benefit.

Sincerely in the Work of Our Lord Jesus, Edward E. Hogg, Ph.D., President

    Reason for posting ...

Thought I should mention that this post is not to promote Trinity. I felt it would be of interest to the group because of Trinity's claim about accreditation, which I don't accept. If this is the wrong section for this post, please accept my apologies.

Right section.......same song, different verse. The accreditation they claim is worthless. Some of the other statements may or may not be true, but without valid accreditation it really doesn't matter. Trinity has been discussed adnausem in other threads....

NAPNSC accreditation is not worthless. Its worth comes in the fact that it does actually investigate schools and the schools actually do offer real education programs.

It is the best of the unrecognized accreditors, most of the rest being fraudulent.

    Hey Bill,

I inquired about their program about two years ago. Long before I discovered Walston's Guide and Degreeinfo :)

    Roscoe

P.S. I was surprised to hear from them. Maybe I should tell them I've learned a few things about accreditation.

Roscoe didn't enroll, complete several courses or invest several thousand dollars with Trinity--he only requested an academic evaluation. ;)

    Thanks Russell,

Your insight here is what some would call a "Word of Knowledge." Or is it "Word of Wisdom"? :)

    ...............................

But Walston says Trinity is a good school. Further, Russell drops his statue of Wesley on anyone who has ill to say about TTS.

Roscoe, are youSURE that you are not a Trinity shill and really drive around with a Trinity sticker on your car??? Common now, Roscoe, confession is good for the soul, ask Russell.

    Russell:
Well then all who read will understand that behind every Trinity joke of mine is the sadness over that wasted year. And don't tell me it was wasted not. I wanted a genuine doc and was too stupid to know that what I was spending those months on was not. Truly Russell at my age the money is not the issue ,the time I have left is the issue. My mistake, no doubt.

    Roscoe:
I was just kidding, old friend!

I disagree, Bill. Perhaps you didn't get what you initially anticipated, but it was not totally wasted. You stated that the work you did for those three courses was equivalent to any RA work you had ever completed. So, while no degree was earned, and the course work has not been transferred into another program, the work did benefit and challenge you on a personal level. Therein, it is not wasted.

    Time for confession.

    Bill,

I know you were kidding. You're a lot of fun. In fact, I'm still laughing.

Here's my confession: I first applied to Andersonville Baptist College and Seminary. At the time I was seeking to be a chaplain with the Army. I only needed a few more credits to have an MDiv. So I called Andersonville.

But the Army said the accreditation was no good. Andersonville said their credits were accepted by Liberty. The ARmy said "no good."

Then some fellow chaplains told me about Trinity. But again, the Army said, "No way."
So I called Dr. Walston and asked about Liverpool. He said Trinity is not accredited and that Liverpool is not recognized by DoED.

Fortunately, Walston rescued me from spending money on Trinity.

So now you know the rest of the story :)

Again Russell, I believe you are wrong because I guess you do not yet understand me or my heart's aspiration. Understand that I feel all good quality study of my area is worthwhile. Further I could well argue, I believe, that Trinity does offer good coursework. But you are not getting my point. Good work is not the issue nor is it what I paid for.

Russell, I am very capable of doing my own research and study. I did not need Trinity for that. I don't need a personal challenge. I did not enroll in Trinity just to study. I enrolled to earn an accredited doc in my field. I did not understand accreditation then. I quit Trinity when I did grasp it.

It was not challenge on a personal level that I signed up for Russell ; it was for an accredited doc. The reason I did not get what I anticipated is that the Trinity utility and accreditation were misrepresented in the Trinity catalogue and gave false reason for anticipation! Let them keep the three thousand, then ; just give me that year of my life back!

How would you like that year back? Months, weeks or the ever popular days? Sorry but we're fresh out of hours.

Dennis, puh-leeeze! NAPNSC is an out-of-vogue joke. It's approval has been turned down by the U.S. Department of Education over a half-dozen times, it will die with the demise of its founders, and last I checked, they only accredited a few schools.

I think you've been receiving very outdated information up in Canada, dear boy.

I only said that their accreditation is not worthless. I didn't join their fan club and get their secret decoder ring.

How would I like it back? Well, if TTS is so special as a Bible College to be accredited by NAPs and the only school of its kind to be favored with global acceptance via the Liverpool connection, and if Dr Hogg is the president of this particularly divinely favored institution, then I would like Dr Hogg to stand in my yard exercising a connection as well with Heaven and say something like:

"O sun stand still over Gibeon,
O moon over the valley of Aijalon."

Thus I may be able to finish my programs despite that stolen year.

    I'm on it, Bill.

P.S. I can't be held responsible for any messes that Dr Hogg may leave in your yard, though.
