I took the American Government clep today. Can you believe I scored a 49. I am so upset that I missed this by 1 point. The wierd thing is this didn't seem to be that difficult. I just can't believe I failed it. I actually felt I was doing pretty good while I was taking the exam.

    totally bummed,

Today, I got some academic results back and I scored significantly lower than what I anticipated, so I too am extraordinarily bummed. :(

It won't affect my GPA nor my academic standing -- just my frail ego.

    am i right

am i right that the score of "50" for passing is the new "reccommended" passing score for all the tests, whereas it used to depend on the test and sometimes be lower than that score?

I scored a 48 on the math clep the other day (let's all lament together!) and the passing score was listed as "46," but as far as I know the chart they were using for scoring us in the proctor's office was old.

    Christopher,

It sounds like that 46 score listed at the proctor's office is the written CLEP? I am not sure about CLEP math, but CLEP college algebra used to be a min. score of 46. Now, the CLEP cbts (all of them I believe) have a cutoff score of 50.

Do all colleges have the same score requirements for the clep tests? Do you you think if I begged TESC they would accept my lowly 49?

With respect to the old CLEP paper tests: No. Individual assessment College pass threshold scores for the new CLEP Computer Based Test (CBT) seem to have been adjusted to a standard score of 50 (including the General exams). Some (other) institutions may set the pass threshold higher for some or all CLEP exams. Off hand, I cannot recall of any that set the pass score below ACE recommendations (other than Excelsior and COSC for some of the old paper based CLEP exams).
My sense is that never, since Canute commanded the sea to retreat, has any demand been so speculative. Sill, it is certain that if you don't ask you don't git. So, why not ask them.

Today I found $85 laying loose on the pavement in a parking lot, so I'm kind of happy.

BTW, if anyone lost $85 in a San Diego parking lot today, tell me where and I'll return your money.

P.S. The relevance to this thread is that some people were sad and I was hoping to balance out some of the saddness, but I'm not meaning to belittle anyone else's saddness.

    scored 45 on clep math

Has anyone had any luck finding a college that will accept a score between 45 and 49 as college credit for the college math exam.

I really needed to pass this test to get the credits applied to excelsior. Is there an alternative option. I was hoping to graduate in May 2005 but this sets me back if I can't find anthing to do in it's place. I already have a full load and that was just the extra 6 credits I needed to get out of the way.

I can't believe I have to wait 6 months to retake this exam and by that time I should have been done. There has to be a college that will accept this for credit. Clep and collegeboard told me that all schools decide what to accept and I should try to find a college that will accept my score but do you think they could tell me which college. Now I am trying to figure out if this information is correct or I am out of luck and have to accept defeat.

    Anyone here got any ideas.

    I am desperate.

    Thanks

    Hi Bill,

I think it may be mine.

I lost $85. Where? In the parking lot in San Diego :D

For the others, Sorry to hear about missing by a point or two. It can be a real killer to the ego.

I tried to test out of a class when I started my MBA. I totally bombed- none of this one or two point stuff. I'm talking 30 or 40 points! I did better on the same test when I took the course, but then I'd already seen it!

Well, I was over by that place where I bought that stuff for that time when I went away that weekend for that thing, you know, that sorta business, sorta social thing? It wasn't actually on the corner but it was sorta near the corner of those two streets where I saw that crash that time? Remember? I told you about that, right? Yeah, right. I told you about that guy who came out and he was all kinda wiggin out over that little crumpled fender and everybody was just sorta coolin it and waitin to see if he was really gonna go off. Remember? Well, anyway, that's just about where I lost that money so you can PM me and I'll give you the mailing address. Right?

Re: scored 45 on clep math

Hmmmm. I am pretty confused by your post. Even if you found a College that accepted the test for under 50 points Excelsior would still not accept the test or the transfer credit. Like all schools I have come accrossed, they require the original transcript (i.e. Clep transcript) to give you credit. You can either choose another test or wait the 6 months. Good luck.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm a little confused

Did you meet the "Ace Recommended Score"?
If you didn't then you will have to re-take.
I don't know of any schools that will take below the "Ace recommended score"

How about taking the Dantes College Algebra exam?

I mean the "Ace Recommended Score" on your Transcript.
    Go by that score.
