DL / Online MBA options?

  1. I've been following this board long enough now to know that the members ARE the experts in locating credible (as in accredited, or quality non-accredited) DL programs. Therefore I would value your input and opinion highly.

What options exist for completing an MBA for the lowest possible cost, at the fastest possible pace, and with the highest possible quality given the first two parameters?

I'm a seasoned IT professional with a BS degree and 20 years of experience, but I find that the addition of an MBA or even an MA would be helpful in my career advancement options at this point in my life. I already am at the CIO level, and have been successful in applying for and getting positions that normally require an MBA - however the addition of it would make things that much easier coupled with my demonstrated experience.

I've seen all the "Saint Regis" and diploma mill options, and they just are not for me - ethically, morally, legally, quality, or any other description we'd care to attach to them (and I'm sure you can help me in that regard ;)). What I'm looking for is a relatively low-cost, low-pain, fast-paced, high value MBA. It doesn't have to be from a top-flight school, just someplace where I would never have to hang my head in shame when presenting it on a resume or other credentials. The MBA could be a general degree, or one with a "focus" - doesn't matter to me, the additional education will be a plus in any case.

One other item - I do already have about 15 credits of post-graduate business school coursework at an RA institution, but I never finished the MBA (had children, and already was working at a level where the pay was good). I'd like to be able to leverage these credits as well, and possibly get some credit (legitimately) for life/professional experience. The 15 credits are about 10 years old though, and may have "aged" in terms of their transferrability to another program.

Thank you very much in advance for your consideration and your advice.

I think you are probably going to lose the previous credits. Most masters' programs have a 5 year time limit. Don't know of any MBA programs that will award credit for life experience. So, you are probably going to have to start at ground zero. Good Luck!

    Low Cost MBA

Try Amberton University (Texas) or University of Southern Queensland Online (Australia).

Amberton MBA is around $5,900 & I believe that USQ is around the same.

    Good luck!

I forgot...you might also want to look into MLS offered through Ft Hays State University. There are a number of concentrations to pick from online.

Hello, I would try Athabasca if you have credits to transfer and the program is a fit. I have read in a previous posting that they are more accepting of older credits. I would also take a look at Lawrie Millers page for degrees. He will certainly have some ideas. Have a good evening. Hille - Feel free to e-mail me. My daughter is currently on the dl MBA quest.

  8. Whitewater WI?

Thanks very much for all of your replies. One of my friends pointed me to a fully online program available through the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater (MBA). Do any of you know about this program and its relative value in terms of quality of education and/or price?
