NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONVERTS PROGRAM TO FOR-PROFIT VENTURE
According to the Chronicles, National University has converted its DL programs into for-profit venture. The new name of the for-profit venture is Spectrum Pacific Learning Company. The university offers more than 200 online courses and 16 online degree programs. The colleges is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Will other school schools do the same thing? The full story can be read at the Chronicle's page below.

  2. Interesting. Possibly even more interesting is that the news doesn't appear on NU's web site. As an increasingly poorer soul enrolled in an online master's program at NU, this is the first I've heard of it.

That said, I have to wonder whether the average student in the online programs will notice a difference, with no projected tuition increases, no obvious faculty changes, no changes in the DL infrastructure, and degrees still being granted by National.

At $900 per 4.5qh (two-month) online course, darned if I can understand how they're not "profiting" already.
