Good Morning, Has anyone had any experience with this University. They had strong alliances with universities in the US(example) Purdue and will accept 40 percent of of the credits toward a graduate degree from other sources. Have a good holiday. Hille

    Hille,

I have not worked directly with the University, but I have done a great deal of work with financial services institutions within the country. Several things to note... like Japan many top business leaders hold doctorates. There is a great emphasis on intellectual prowess in the cities. The people in Budapest are very proud of their heritage (some people can appear cold). Language can be a problem. Maygar, the official language, is what most people speak and while English is spoken, it is far less common than you would find in Western Europe. If you visit Budapest, you must be very careful as organized crime centered in the former Soviet Union has a grip on the city and tourists. Prostitution, gambling and various con-men and women operate openly and with little regard for the law. There are many horror stories of people being walked to ATM machines and forced to withdrawer $1000 to pay for a drink in a bar.

On the bright side, the country is beautiful. The Danube, Chain Bridge, Royal Palace (now a fairly modern museum inside), the various baths, etc are all worth seeing.

Not sure how this will help you, but I believe that language can be a barrier...

John C, what has ATM's, cold people & 'The Beautiful country' have to do with DL and Budapest vis Purdue relationship.

I dont know what it is Hille is really asking, since this section of the Degreeinfo generally deals with questions of DL. Then Hille was the question or was it a question whether a degree can be had from Budapest via DL (in English & at what level) or was the question simply 'who knows how the relationship works on the credit acceptance thing'?

Seems to me you asked and answered the question all at the same time, or let me guess, can anyone confirm that a Budapest grad can get 40% credit towards a purdue degree and exactly how does Purdue administer this?

Can you share more details on your leading question and exactly what answer do you want, it was amost like a statement that you posted for an informed audience?

As John C said (its obvious) english would be a problem if someone was intending to study by any method at Budapest University. BTW it was an interesting tourist snipit provided by John C.
