Now we know who the real beneficiaries of the SAT and GRE are - the executives of ETS who receive six-figure bonuses. This absolutely ticks me off. This adds one more gripe for me about that GRE. ETS Officials Get the Big Bucks
"Landgraf said.... "Our compensation is based on the simple principle that we have to attract people who can help us grow......" Yeah, sure. It certainly doesn't appear as if they're having any trouble in the growth department. BTW, anyone know how the folks at GMAC are doing?
You're right. They are growing - well at least their wallets are. What's interesting about this is that I've seen at least a couple studies which suggest that the GRE may not be an accurate measure of one's ability to succeed in graduate school. I'm wondering if the universities are caught in some kind of time warp where they can't let go of the GRE or is it that ETS markets the test so well as to convince academic institutions that it is indispensable.
Interestingly, if I have the proverbial ducks in a row, Harvard dismisses GRE (GMAT?) scores, feeling that interviews are much more reliable in determining candidate quality.
