I have a large amount of credit hours - maybe 110-125, from three different colleges, all earned about 20 years ago, but no degree. I'd like to consolidate these to get a bachelor's to move on and take some grad classes. Most school's distance programs that I've looked at require 30 or so hours be taken from them. Any ideas for me. Certainly I can supplement my traditional hours with professional experience, or CLEP - though I don't know how that works, but if I can find somewhere with the least restictive policy on transfer I should be pretty close without that. I'm only interested in an accredited program so I can pursue a master's. Someone mentioned COSC and TESC. Thanks, GH
Good Morning, Check Lawrie Millers page for information about the Big Three. (Also explore the idea of registering at a WV CC, taking 24 CLep hours and getting a Regents degree from WV.) Hille
Least restrictive...? Least restrictive policy on transfer credit? Certainly these colleges--COSC and TESC--both qualify on this account and are accredited, as is Excelsior! All you need to do is visit their web sites and/or order their application literature. The various pros- and cons--which are mostly quite subtle except where particular degree majors are concerned--have been discussed and debated her on various threads: just search them up. Plenty of others have trod your steps, Gary. But also investigate, and thereby rule in or out the option of completing your degree through a school you've already attended. I f you've met residency requirments (which is likely: few require more than a year or two semesters), and if they will accept substantial transfer credit (which most do--but far from all), then perhaps you could fill in the slight credit you need by taking an independent or directed study course from that institution--or even through testing. --Orson
A school Excelsior is a good choice I transfered all my 91 hours to the school. Now, I'm set to graduate May 17,2002 with two Degrees from Excelsior and my state school. Good luck
