The Nation newpaper, Bangkok's second leading english language daily, printed an article on November 10 or 12 or 14 as follows:

    MBA programme faces legal trouble.

The Ministry of University Affairs has filed a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division against IITD Company for offering a Master of Business Administration in Thailand without a license., the ministry's permanent secretary, Woradet Chantarasorn, said yesterday.

The company told students enrolled in the programme they would be awarded MBAs from United Kingdom-based Hariot Watt University. More than 130 students have reportedly graduated from the programme.

IITD has been running the programme at Plassin Thurakit School on the fifth floor of the Mercury Building in Bangkok's Pathumwan district.

The ministry filed the complaint on August 13, but the company has continued its operation and has recruited a new class of students, its sixth, for this semester, Woradet said. Consequently the ministry sent a letter to police chief General Sant Sarutanond asking him to speed up the investigation.

The ministry has already taken action against four international universities for offering services here without a license. They are Adamson University, Inter-Cultural Open University, Pacific Western University and the University of the Northern Philippines.
