    Greetings to all,

I'm rejoicing that I just passed my first CLEPS.

    College Algebra
    American Literature

Honestly, College Algebra was harder than I thought. I only prepared for C-Best level math. Some of the questions were out of my ballpark. But I passed.

I'm sure these are no brainers for you guys, but this keeps me right on track and I'm set to graduate in April.

    Many thanks for the help,

    Chris

  2. Congratulations! But if Algebra were truly a no-brainer, there'd have been no need for ETS to create the College Math exam for the likes of me. :D

How was the American Literature clep? Can I ask what you used to prepare for it? I will be taking this exam in a few weeks and I have been reviewing The Norton Anthology of American Literature.

    Congratulations,

I myself am almost ready to CLEP College Algebra. What do you mean C-Best level math? What type of background do you have in math? I used to have trouble with math (10 years ago), however, I took an intermediate algebra course a year ago and felt it was fairly easy (remembered more than I though from high school). I have also been reading through schaums outline for college algebra (Ebook version * which I do not recommend to ANYONE because there are no sample questions).

Congrats on your progress towards the BA!

    Best Regards,
    Bill

    thanks guys

I'm sorry I didn't respond at all for a while.

To clarify: The American Lit. Clep only required one, perhaps expensive, thing. I just moved to CA from Chicago, and as I drove across country I listened to all of the tapes in the teachco "American lit" course. The lectures' correspondence with the test were uncanny. I think i scored in the 97th percentile.

on the math: I actually guessed quite a bit. I'm surprised and somewhat lucky that I passed. Of course, guesses are supposed to be "intelligent guesses." I hope that's what they were.

    Question for Christopher (or others)...

In taking the sample exam for the CLEP English lit, I noticed no questions on authors or examples that would fit under prose classics of literature, i.e., Lock, Hobbes, Carlysle...

Is this also true for the real exams (Eng lit or Am Lit)?

I don't recall a single question on the Am. Lit clep asking about an author's life. The closest it came to that was connecting authors with particular literary works or styles.

All the best on the Eng. Clep. I will be sure and use this website too. I'm also listening to the expensive teachco lectures I bought last summer.
