Ok, suppose a person has about 70 previous credit hours…with about 26 (I think, my mind is going blank) and I would like to finish my degree in a timely manner (quickest I can…:)) with a good cost efficient plan (as cheap as I can get away with...:)) I have looked at some of the assessment colleges but I am wondering how that would work out with international colleges..here are my concerns….

How would that work out in:

    1)Time

    2)Cost

3)Acceptance at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (I know that only they can tell me that but maybe you could narrow down my lists)

4)Which ones are a waste of my time?

***The Schools that would interest me the most are:

    University of South Africa

    University of Pretoria

Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education

    International Christian College

    University of Glasgow

    Evangelical Theological College of Wales

    Coolamon College

If your goal is simply to earn an accredited Bachelor's degree quickly for admission to a graduate school or seminary, any of the Big Three (TESC, COSC, and Excelsior) are probably your best bet.

Non-US schools offer very interesting graduate options, but I can't see any compelling reason for a US student to go for an undergrad degree from a foreign school. Besides the possibility of problems with deadlines (mail service), once you do get the degree, it will have to be evaluated by any US graduate program to which you apply. A US RA degree is simply accepted at face value.

There are quite a few evangelical achools which offer the BA by distance. According to Walston Liberty, Moody, Southeastern Bible College, Tennessee Temple Univ all do as does my school ACCS, but it is TRACS only.

    Hey Drew..

    Hey Drew...

A couple of thoughts. Acceptance into SBTS will not be a problem if you get above a 2.75 gpa in undergrad (probably). It especially won't be a problem if you attend a baptist church. You will, most likely, get a significant tuition discount if you do!!!

Here's the thing. You need to go to one of the assessment colleges, one of the big three. That's pretty much the bottom line. They provide the most lattitude for you transferring your credits. That means the most efficiency for the time you spend on finishing a degree because: the more credit you transfer, the less work you have to do, thus taking care of your concerns with time and money simultaneously. The more credit you have left over, the more time and money it is going to cost. Most other schools won't come nearly as close to saving you that kind of time and money.

If I could be so bold~~~Call TESC and ask for a FULL catalog. No little papers, or "reply if you are interested" envelopes. Get a FULL CATALOG. Then do the same for Excelsior. Then submit for a "credit review" for both. It may be costly up front, but what costs more, taking 75 more credits worth of courses or submitting for a review? Do this early on while you are searching out other programs. You won't know exactly what you are looking at when you review the "big 3" as an option until you get those reviews BACK.

Then you can take courses at Moody through correspondence to your hearts delight:D :D :D It will all transfer to Excelsior and TESC. If you declare a major, then it may take a little more time.
