    The Institute of Counselling http://www.collegeofcounselling.com/
is accredited by the European Association for Distance Learning (http://www.eadl.org) This accrediting body used to go by the name of The Association of European Correspondence Schools
The Institute is also accredited by the Association of British Correspondence Colleges.

My question would be; Is any one of these accrediting bodies reliable? And,in turn,is the Institute of Counselling reliable?

Also,is a 2-year Diploma from the Institute of Counselling
later "transferable" to a University's Bachelor's degree in simillar field?

    Thanks.

Bad, bad, BAD idea. I mean, not only is it a bad idea (because it's a bogus school accredited by a bogus agency) but it's not even cheap. If you're interested in buying a worthless degree, you can get a good ol'fashioned USA diploma mill degree for a lot less money than at that place. C'mon, BUY AMERICAN!

    EADL

Hi; I thought that EADL (ww.eadl.org) is recognized in the accrediting field.I've read somewhere that EADL is simillar to DETC.That's what got me interested in that school, but thanks for the info.

A fast look-through of the website showed me nothing good.
    Jack's right.
Do you want religious counseling training or secular? Your answer to that question will likely trigger some useful suggestions from other posters more familiar with counseling training (so labeled) than I am.

    Make sure...

First, determine what kind of counseling you want to do. Then determine if you will need some form of certification that meets licensure requirements in your country. If you find a program that complies with the law and has a good track record of graduates getting licensure then that is a good sign. If you go into Pastoral counseling, it is still advantageous to get training from an accredited institution (Religious or Secular) for the simple reason that your credibility will be the highest among parishioners and non-parishioners. If later you decide to go into formal "secular" counseling, then it will be easier to make a crossover or cross-pollenation... with least effort and without doubling your work.

    Hope that helps you.

More important seems to be that one of the Diplomas is accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University (a legitimate government funded UK university) and will give 60 UK credits (roughly 15 US semester hours) towards a bachelor's degree. See

    http://www.collegeofcounselling.com/course5000.html

    for details.
