just started doing research on this... and was told this might be a good place to find a solution.

I'm looking for a fast/cheap/legit MBA program. I recognize these might be mutually exclusive, but thought the fine folks here might have just the recipe for me.

I've been told of the Heriot-Watt program - but it was first disclaimed to not be particularly easy, or fast.

I have 5+ years in managment experience and 10 years in business in general. I am looking to specialize in consulting work and simply need papers to validate my abilities. Not to mention - i'm sure i'd learn some good stuff too! :)

    Any other thoughts or suggestions?

    thanks in advance-

I'll continue to scour this forum as well to attempt to retrieve any duplicate advice.

Also, read Bear's Guide to the Best Business Degrees by Distance Learning.

    Consider Amberton.

Better yet, get into the best school that will take you and that you can fit into your schedule and learning style. Beg, borrow, but don't steal, whatever money it takes to finish. Enjoy your life and the prestige and benefits your degree will bring to it.

What a great product endorsement for Heriot-Watt University and its Edinburgh Business School MBA.

Of the three criteria jman is looking for, I am glad we fall down on the 'fast' and 'cheap' ones (and the additional one 'easy') but score on the 'legit'.

'Easy' we will never be because we refuse to pander to lowering standards which route many Schools have done for their distance learning and on campus MBA programmes. They will discredit themselves out of the market in time. We prefer to have tough but fair examinations.

'Fast' is relative but a minimum time by part-time distance learning is 20 months to study and be examined in all nine courses. You can only do it faster (12-15 months) if you are fulltime (on-campus or distance learning or a mixture of modes).

'Cheap' is relative but we are priced reasonably (in the lower two quartiles in comparative pricing
but we have announced price increases for January 1 2003 from GBP550 to GBP 600 (print), the on-line programme remains the same price of GBP800, all prices per course.

A 'legit'[imate] MBA by distance learning, tough but fair', that is a good description from the market place.

    Good hunting to jman!
