In 1986, the Polytechnic Institute of New York, changed its name to Polytechnic University (www.poly.edu). Poly started out in 1854 as the Collegiate & Polytechnic Institute later changing its name to Brooklyn Polytechnic. In 1973, it changed its name from BP to PINY after the old New York University School of Engineering merged with BP. The school in Brooklyn is still called Brooklyn Poly by most alumni, faculty and students. I guess the school in Florida will cause some confusion... John Craparo
