The daughter of a colleague was asking me to ask the board about the two program offerings at OU & MMU in the UK.

Outside of cost & time to completion, she has mentioned that there is a large disparity between the programs (delivery & terminal outcomes seem different) and wondered why this was?

In order to help her make the decision, (on her behalf) she has asked the following.

-Comparison of course content, rigor & flexibility.

-Faculty expertise, information as it relates to teaching/research interests. (tenured/contract staff)?

    -Flexibilty between the two programs.

-Research reporting, measurement & quality control.

-Student base in each university in the program; number of students & domestic Vs International.

-Record of recognition by other universities internationally.

-Is there a placement record (although it may not apply), where graduates end up & doing what?

Help from our UK based educators in the system would be appreciated, although there may be some bias and conflict of interest?

The Open University as far as I know (and I am certain unless they have altered their policy in the last month or two) do not offer deegrees or courses to those resident in Canada.

Manchester Metropolitan University probably does offer international service. MMU is one of the host of polytechnics that Mrs Thatchers government upgraded to university status back in the late 80s and early 90s. I am currently doing an MA in one of these institutions (Sheffiel Hallam University.)
