Hi everyone! I guess this question is directed towards those of you who know a lot about the different South African institutions. I am interested in an MBA (or similar master's program) that has no residency requirements and that is 100% through coursework (no thesis or dissertation). Because of my current financial situation I am highly considering a South African degree. I appreciate any assistance you can give me. Thanks.

I know very little about MBA programs but I know a bit about South African universities. You'll find ones where you can do the MBA cheaply and without any required residency but I don't know about the "no thesis, no dissertation" aspect of your question. Many non-US schools are big on research requirements for postgraduate degrees. It's not much but here's a link that will get you started:

    Good luck,

  3. I would not recommend a South African MBA for someone in U.S. But for someone in Venezuela? I don't know what your other options are.

There has been an explosion of MBAs in South Africa. Many people have been pursuing UK programs (Heriot Watt, Henley, de Montfort, Oxford Brookes) or Australian programs (Bond, USQ). Often through a local affiliate (e.g. Oxford Brookes MBA is through Damelin).

The MBA in SA is not quite common, for the other hand UNISA offers the equivalent M.Comm or MBL (Business Leadership). As stated below, there are many american programs that are considered cheap ($9K), or even Australian for 6K (USQ) so there is no point to persue an MBA from SA. If you speak spanish, you can probably pursue an MBA from a spanish (Spain) university, they offer some good programs and they would have a better acceptance in spanish speaking countries than SA ones. I know of two spanish MBAs offered in the US and one offered in Mexico by using internet.

MBA (Spanish) Jones International (US RA accredited)

MBA ITESM, (US RA accredited and AACSB)

The second one ranks very high in the financial times MBAs ranking (50th I believe)

The website for the UNISA MBL is

By the way, is USQ the most affordable Australian institution?

Less prestigous, but very affordable is "Charles Sturt" University. A bit cheaper than USQ and no proctored exams are required.
