Turning how-to book into grad project

Is it possible to receive grad credits or a research degree for book-length manuscripts that stresses how-to as opposed to research?

I'm thinking such a work can be re-edited a bit and retitled as "A Model for ..."

I currently have two completed manuscripts of about 200 pages each. One is self-published and the other unpublished. One deals with journalism and the other, religious communication.

My question: Is there a master level program in English, Journalism or Communications, that might consider such work as useful for credit or anything on the grad level?

Obviously, the quality of the work must be taken into consideration. But all things being equal, is it possible to get some kind of graduate degree using this work as the major part of the program?

    Thanks.
