What differnece does it make which DETC school you go to, if they all have the same accreditation? For example, CIE, Grantham, and CNU all are accrediated by the DETC. Wouldn't it depend on the HR practices the company themselves?

    Just a question.

You're right that it depends on the viewer what a degree is worth. The way I look at it is that all schools, whether they are accredited or not, are on a huge list from most respected down to least respect. As such the degrees from these schools are going to follow a similar scale. It's true that in different areas and different people the order of the list can differ but I think there will also be many similarities. There will be some gaps in our spectrum. Specifically RA schools and their GAAP equivalent will be at the top and DETC schools will generally be below them. There will be a much larger gap between DETC schools and below them the unaccredited schools.

So to answer your question, I think that you want to get your degree from a school that is as high up on the list as you can because then you will theoritically have more doors opportunity opened by your hard earned credential.

    So, where is "The List"?

:) The U.S. News magazine probably does the most complete job at actually trying to provide a non-virtual list and that really only covers the top few colleges and only within the USA. The List does exist but in reality it is in many many pieces. Each person keeps their own piece of it in their subjective conscious. I know that HR at some companies keep such a list that would involve schools they try to hire from and won't hire from and will even rank some of the list as more or less desirable.

The problem is that companies are generally very protective of their hiring practices, for obvious reasons.

...Which is exactly why I was hoping to hear from graduates of a school that I have an interest in. But, that is under a different thread.
