Ireland has become a member of the EU. How would this affect Warnborough "university" who is incorporated there? Surely they must not become a "European University".
I can already see their logic: An irish company now is a European company, therefore, as an Irish university company, they become a European university company.

    Any comments are apprectiated!

    1. Ireland has already been member of the EU for YEARS

    2. in each EU country, there are laws considering the use of the word "university"; in general, the state must allow you to use it after approval. diploma mills are against this law, and can not legally use the name university, no matter if they are not for profit (state universities, what MOST european universities are, there are only very little private ones) or for profit (like companies).

    so, where´s the point?

triggersoft: I am currently on holiday in a country whose language I don't speak, and I thought I heared something like "Ireland is integrated in the EU now"... sorry if I got something wrong... (can we have an "embarrasment" smilie here!)... all this beer... But then, reading your reply, although I don't want to start an old topic again: how can WU be a "university", through their company incorporation in Ireland?

    Hi Adelheid.

No, Ireland had an election yesterday about severyl Eastern European countries becoming new members of the EU (it seems they voted for "yes"; all the other EU countries already voted yes, Ireland was the last); the Irish also already use the "Euro" as a currency since Jan. 2002 ;)

Abouth Warnborough: the can write in thei corporate bill (almost) everything they want, even that they want to operate as a university, but still - in my opinion - they act against the law if they OPERATE as a university in Ireland, if they do not have the official right (from the state of Ireland) to do so.

    greets,

Warnborough has always claimed to be a 'global' university - ie not belonging to any jurisdiction/ country of the world. It suits their raison d'etre!

    Cheers,

Why ask me? Why not go to the source and mail Warnborough yourself? I am sure they will give you the answer you are seeking.

    Cheers,

    George
