I received a flyer in the mail from DETC accredited Columbia Southern University that they are partnering with the University of North Alabama for an on-line MBA and with the University of West Alabama to offer a Master's in Counseling/Psychology.

    Has anyone investigated these programs?
Have there ever been a DETC accredited institution collaborated with a regionally accredited university in the past?

Opinions about these collaborations? Being worthwhile?

If memory serves, the California-approved California Pacific University once had such an arrangement with the University of North Alabama. (This was at a time when they had unrecognized accreditation.) I never learned why the arrangement ended.

This sort of arrangement is, I think, much more common in Europe, where one institution will do the teaching and another will award the degree. For 50 year, the Henley Management College taught, and Brunel University awarded the degree. Greenwich School of Theology teaches, Potchefstroom in South Africa awards the degree. And there are many schools that help people prepare for the various exams of London University.

One difference here is that Columbia Southern presumably continues to offer degrees of its own, and perhaps hopes/believes that their reputation will be enhanced by these connections.
