Here is another feasible D/L Ph.D option. www.buonline.edu.lb. A joint program by Mant University/Beirut University and recognized by the government of Lebanon.

What a riveting novelty is the little clock that tells you have been on the page 22 seconds, 23, 24 ,25, 26 .......

I grew old watching that clock.

I am looking for an inexpensive DL Masters. Is this legit? There is no mention of requirements, program, etc. I am assuming that it is bogus?

I'd probably go with Northcentral before this place, but maybe that's just me. I just can't see getting a degree from a school in a location that would make me afraid to attend the graduation ceremony. [IMG]

Anyway, if you are considering a foreign degree then IMO you ought to look at some Australian programs instead. They are much less expensive, as well as being better established. Plus I wouldn't be afraid of my records disappearing from a school like USQ or Deakin because it got hit by a bomb. [IMG]

Gary, good points!! You mentioned North Central. It seems more expensive than Heriot-Watt for example. In fact, I am leaning towards HW but am considering the Australian schools as well. In the US, would a UK degree be looked upon more favorably than an Australian? Different subject than the one started, I know.....

I'm not sure how one could answer that question. But with the rise both of of DL and of worldwide labor migration, these kind of questions are going to be increasingly frequent.

I have an old 1990 copy of 'The World of Learning' on my shelf. For Lebanon, it lists:

    Universities:

    American University of Beirut
    Beirut Arab University
    Universite Libanaise
    Umiversite Saint-Esprit de Kaslik
    Universite Saint Joseph

    Colleges:

    Academie Libanaise des Beaux Arts
    Beirut University College
    Haigazian College
Imam Ouzai College of Islamic Studies
    Islamic College of Business Admin.
    Middle East College
    Near East School of Theology

Unfortunately there is no Matn University or Beirut University listed. Of course, Beirut University College may have changed status in the last 12 years, or both places may be new.

But I remain skeptical. Caution should be exercised, I think.

I would guess that acceptance in the US would be pretty similar (between US and UK degrees). I really don't think that it would be an issue either way, though it does seem more likely that people will be curious about your degree. That shouldn't really matter though, since the degree would be totally legit, so long as you don't mind discussing it, or mind that it will be more obvious that your degree was earned through DL.

I wasn't really suggesting that you look at Northcentral, as I would probably wait until they are fully RA, I was just saying that I would probably pick them before I would pick a fairly new school in Beirut that costs about the same.

Beirut U was founded in 1994 (according to their website), so it wouldn't have been on a list published in 1990...

Yeh, such as Harlem (Columbia) or South Central/Watts LA (USC).
