I was wandering around Alameda island, near Oakland (California), this morning, to look at some former military space that is now available for public use,* and came upon a sizeable facility for Columbia College of Columbia, Missouri. Stopped in to chat. Interesting place. AA and BA programs through evening classes, and also well over 100 courses on line, at the relatively modest cost of $164/unit.

And, addressing a question that has arisen here, about testing ones compatibility with online courses, they offer a free demo courses, complete with live mentor response: http://www.ccis.edu/DistanceEducation

    * No, I'm not planning to start a school.
Looking for possible folk dance venues.

More importantly, John, did they offer you free space for folk dancing? Inquiring minds wish to know.

Peter (who finally tried English country dancing last year)

John: $100 an hour for a large drafty hangar. We shall remain in Finnish Brotherhood Hall in Berkeley.

Friday nights 8-10 at the Finnish Brotherhood Hall sounds like the very opposite of distance learning, but I may drop in nonetheless if I'm ever in the region. Looks like a great antidote to matters cerebral!

    Best,
    Peter

P.S. I'm guessing even diploma mill operators out on parole would be welcome? Or does the circle take a vote each Friday on newcomers?
