offers a DETC accredited, total DL, Assoc. in Respiratory Therapy that will allow the holder of the degree to sit for the RRT certification. Are there any RA schools that have such a program???????????? I could not find one either through telecampus or a general search.
distance learning The only other distance learning entry level program for RRT is Weber State go to www.weber.edu they have many distance learning health science programs, and are RA.hope this helps Jeremy
I wonder if it is a good idea to earn a health sciences-related degree from any school via distance learning. I really truly don't know. Wouldn't most such programs have clinical or internship requirements? As a patient wouldn't I want somebody performing such a function to have been closely supervised during their training? Yes, I know they've passed a test, but still... Given the dearth of programs beyond CCHS and Weber offering such programs, it makes me wonder if others share my concern. I should state for the record that I have no problem with CCHS being one of two offered here that does this (just as I have no problem with CA-approved schools that offer licensure-tracks for psychologists). As long as you're sure that it will meet your needs, more power to you. Tom Nixon
As I recall from CCHS' web site you do indeed need an internship and mentor in your local area. In other words you need to arrange for a local hospital program to take you in as an intern and a certified Resp Th to oversee you. North
North: You are 100% correct. An internship is required and you have to be monitored by a regisitered Resp. Therp. for CCHS. Most of the other RA schools just offer a DL Bachelors degree in this area but you already have to be a regisitered RT to be accepted. Duff
