Has anyone taken the TECEP English Composition I? It is pass/fail; has anyone used this to satisfy the English Comp requirement at Excelsior? (If so, your answer is sure be of interest to those soon to be meeting this requirement on the board.) --Orson
Hi Orsen, no I havn't, but... ...just to run off your question for anyone who knows the answer, since I didn't prepare myself enough for the Clep English Comp and got a 49, and have to wait 6 months to take it again, do you have to wait the same 6 months to take the ECE English Comp? And would the other 2 schools accept it? Trouble is, you don't get to find out which part of it you didn't do well on, if you failed like me, so you can concentrate on that area for extra study for retake. My mom's taking it this Tuesday, but she's been published in a magazine more than once, so I doubt she'll have a problem.
I asked about this before and was told that the only way to satisfy excelsior's requirement is by taking their exam (and yes, you do have to wait six months, I asked them) or by taking the class at a RA school or take the AP test. They also stated somewhere in their guide that you could take a writing class, but I am not sure of that. Orson, I thought you took the ECE test, did it not go well? I am supposed to take it next week, but I may delay it for awhile....
Yes John, I did take it--and no, it did not go especially well. You must have forgotten, but I related my experience in your thread, "? for Orson re: ECE English / Essay." But no--why not just take it? It's only one exam. (I can live with the result.) I don't believe I gained anything from putting it off myself. --Orson
Oh! and I had planned on taking the AP English Comp, myself. I deemed it a worthier challenge. However, it's only offered once a year in May.
I thought about AP as well, but I doubt it is an option for me. After I posted, I read my mail at home where I found a letter from Excelsior re: my registering for ECE exams. It was an info packet for the exams and inside it said that if you fail an exam, you can take it again in two months. As a result, I am going to take the English Comp and let the chips fall where they may. Orson, I don't see any responses to your TECEP question. If anyone responds to your question privately, will you let me know the results? I may have to go this route as well. thanks, John
