Hawaii Litigation Update: Atlantic International University

    The State of Hawaii has settled the pending litigation against Atlantic International University, Inc.

    The settlement is documented by a Stipulated Judgment and Permanent Injunction which was filed with the First Circuit Court of the State of Hawaii on October 10, 2002.

    Under the terms of the settlement, AIU is enjoined from (1) failing to properly and adeqately disclose the fact that it is not accredited; (2) indicating or suggesting that the State of Hawaii licenses, approves of or regulates its operations and (3) violating any of the provisions of Hawaii's UDGI law.

    AIU also agreed to offer full restitution to any individual who enrolled in or made payment to AIU or any of its agencts within a country in which AIU's advertising or promotional materials violated the law, including Malaysia AIU has also paid a civil penalty of $2,500.

    Wasn't AIU the 'school' whose programs once comprised about half the offerings in the Peterson's database? If so, it appears they've been totally expunged.
