Trying to find a CLEP testing center in California, especially in Northern California, with an open slot sometime before the apocalypse has been unsuccessful to date. Does anyone have any inside information on where I can find a testing center anywhere in California that won't make me wait more than two weeks for an open testing slot? Thanks, Christian, CGEN USQ 2002
Good Luck I'm afraid it might let be easy. I'm in San Diego and have had to drive up to Riverside (more than an hour-and-a-half) 4 times already. LaSierra University there was very friendly, and tried their best to make things easy. Call every private college and university you can. They seem to be the ones offering the CLEPs now. You might even see if you can use some DSSTs. It was relatively easy to find some one to administer those. Depending on where you are, NV and OR might be worth a look.
Hi! I'm also in Northern California and have done all my CLEP testing at our local University of Phoenix. You don't have to be a student there in order to test. I had them fax both their CLEP and Dantes testing schedules to me, picked the dates that worked best for me, faxed them in their registration form, showed up on the selected day and took the tests. They charge a $12.00 administrative fee on top of the normal CELP fee - very reasonable. The staff there have always been fantastic to deal with. You may want to see if there is a Univ of Phoenix near you, I've been very pleased with them. Good luck! Lorie
You can search for CLEP testing centers at http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch/searchCLEPTestCenter.jsp
Many congrats also! I'm in there California-Clepping with you. This is interesting because I called U of Phx in Bakersfield and, if I recall correctly, they said no. They told me they didn't offer cleps. I may have talked to the wrong person or only some UoP's offer them in CA. Chris
Re: Re: CLEP Testing in California I'd been hearing horror stories by CLEP administrators at all the colleges I was calling about people flaking out on their testing appointments. So I put it together: I just showed up at UOP-Sacramento unannounced on the next testing date and, sure enough, three people flaked, so I was able to sit immediately. I've been asking different questions than "Do you have slots available?" I've been asking "Have you ever had a testing date where everyone showed up?" They all say "No!" so I am now a drop-in person knowing that no testing center I have talked to thus far has ever been sold out. Oh, and bring cookies for the test administrator and send a follow-up thank you card. May sound cheesy, but with it being so hard to get test dates in this state, I'll bet you after a couple more cookies/card tests I will have no problem finding available testing seats.
