  5. Good on ya Mate! I will now update my "skills inventory" at the office to include Australian Language. With a little work, I should be able to manage simultaneous translation..

You are now ready to graduate

    ...to http://www.ancoraimparo.net/australia/talk.htm

It will give a little more depth so that you are not as stilted. I remember being in the US in 1960 and trying to buy something and someone asked me where I came from and had no idea where it was. The response was ' ... I don't know wher that place is, but I sure like the way you say it...'

And that is half the trick - run all you words together, don't open your mouth properly or eact, drink or smoke at the same time, and keep is 'rapide' like the bloody Frog bastards do.

A good introduction is a book by Nino Colutta -John O'Gray called 'A Wierd Mob' and another called 'A Bottle Full of Sandwiches', "Gone Fishin'" is another.

We talk Strine [which is how we pronounce 'Australian] and have been doin' it since Adam played footy for Jerusalem. Just remember when you arrive to ask the cabbie 'Ammachissit?' [how much is it?] or you won't be able to pay the correct fare, and don't forget to turn on the eggnishoner [air conditioner] in your room as it can be as hot as buggery - you didn't know that buggery was hot did you? [actually we don't really know what the word really means].

Anyway the cooks gunna chuck a mental if I don't get off this thing - gotta cook some cackleberries and mystery packages or we'll all starve.

    Seeyalatermate orite?

I am trying to figure out why this thread is in "Distance Learning Discussions."
Is it possible that Edison (etc.) might accept Strine as meeting a second language requirement?

Ah, well. As we Americans say, "Pas de le Rhone que nous."
