Capella has revamped it's MBA program to include Professional Effectiveness Coaching. It now has a set curriculum towards only a general MBA, and has changed from an 8 to a 6 week course schedule.

I was wondering if anyone who knew, what they thought of this new program and if it is an improvement in an MBA program.

Another question is, what is the purpose of an MBA: To get management business skills, or to get management people skills?

Unfortunately the price did not decrease. The program consist of 16 courses at $1500.00 per. $24,000.00 not including books. Per the admissions advisor I spoke with it also is not a program for an individual with any accounting or finance concentration because they only have one class relating to the subject.

The plus that I found it that they work with you if you have employer tuition reimbursement in addition to financial aid.

Tina - The 6 week calendar may have been a response to the marketplace. Both UoP and Baker, two of the largest DL MBA programs, use this calendar.

Frankly, I don't like the compressed schedule. Sure it facilitates getting through courses quickly - but I believe there is some benefit to having courses continue for longer periods - at least 8 weeks or, prefereably, 13-15 weeks. Short courses don't work well for students facing the pressures of work, home and school. Almost always this gets reflected in profs cutting back on requirements.

    Regards - Andy

Agree, there are courses that more time is needed.
