Has anyone here who is NOT a native or semi-native speaker of Spanish taken the CLEP Spanish Examination? If so, how have you done?

  2. My Spanish proficiency has been rated at ILR Level 2+ and 3 for reading comprehension on the two occasions that Uncle has tested me. 5 is a native speaker, 1 would be be comfortable with "Yo no soy marinero.. soy capitan, soy capitan" and not much else. My listening proficiency is slightly lower. In other words: I'm not even close to native or fluent.

I took the Spanish subject exam in hopes of making the score cutoff for 12 credits at TESC. I was comfortable with the reading portion. The listening sections- 2 of them-- were rough, and pulled my score down. If you're more comfortable with speaking the language than with reading it, the test seems to be weighted in your favor. Best case is that you're strong in both; if you can pull through on one skill or the other, chances of receiving at least some credit seems pretty good.
