If you want to have an enrollment application processed by Excelsior it's $900 dollars. I was told this by the school directly on the phone. I found this out after I filled out a very long online enrollment application that turned out to be just there credit review. I mistook the application as an enrollment form due to the site being hard to understand. Now, I'm out of fifty bucks. I never heard of any college requiring $900 dollars to process an enrollment application:(

I'm now thinking about tryn to enroll at Thomas Edison state college they only ask for $75 dollars to enroll. Maybe I misunderstood the people at Excelsior. So, if anybody can help me to understand reply back. Thank You:)

    Hi Avia

Both Excelsior and TESC have open enrollment meaning they accept everyone who meets their minimum requirements. It is not like a state school that accepts the top applicants until they reach a certain number. The fee that Excelsior is asking for is both enrollment and fees for the first year. The fee TESC is asking for is just an intial advising fee. Both schools have similiar costs, although for certain students the fee at one or other maybe somewhat cheaper.

    Avia93,

Don't cough up another 75 bucks to TESC if you don't plan on spending more! Enrollment (I believe for non-NJ residents) is over a thousand dollars. So, I think Excelsior is a cheaper choice if you don't live in NJ.

Now here is why Excelsior, TESC, and COSC are expensive:

These schools do not require the 30 credit minimum that other traditional schools require. Because of this, they don't get tuition from you to help pay for services like transfer course evaluations and what ever else they do. So, they tack on that enrollment fee so they can make up for the tuition your NOT paying them.

This is my impression on why these schools have expensive enrollment fees, atleast. With these fee's and tuition included from other schools your transferring work from, it can probably get a little expensive. This is why these schools are better suited for individuals who wish to complete a degree they have started already. For what it's worth, Excelsior does have a payment plan for their fees.

    Best Regards,

    Bill

    Now I get it!

THANKS. At first I did not understand but you help clear it up for me and yes, your right Excelsior college is cheaper. I went back to there sit and looked at fee payments. They do offer a payment plan that works. Thomas Edison college is way over my budget. At first I thought the opposite until I did further reading. Once again THANK YOU!
