    Hi friends.

CSUDH ist one of my final choices for an online MBA program (the other most relevant one is USQ/Australia).

Before enrolling, I would like to talk to one grad or present student of their online MBA program in order to get some important information about the program in general, the course content and quality (especially I would like to get some extracts or so of one or two of the courses in order to get a "feeling") and the experiences with the administration.

Are there any CSUDH MBA students here on board?

    Thanks for your response.

You can also email me at: [email protected]

    Best regards,

    Trigger

    CSUDH?

I also would like some information from former or current students at CSUDH. That makes at least two of us. I am aware of the costs, the fact that it's RA, and fully DL. What I really want to know is, how was the experience? And, how would you rate the quality of the program? Thanks in advance.

I am a graduate of CSUDH (HUX), and have had no personal experience with the MBA program. But since nobody is responding, I'll post some stuff.

You can find a link to a list of titles of 2001-2 faculty publications (some 30 papers and presentations) on the School of Management website at:

    http://som.csudh.edu

This can serve as an indicator of faculty interests and activities.

Something rather cool that the CSUDH School of Management is involved with is the Global Diffusion of the Internet Project:

    http://som.csudh.edu/cis/lpress/gdiff/

The CSUDH guy most involved with this is Larry Press. He has written a number of country reports for this project, and posted their full-text on-line:

'A Case Study of Electronic Commerce in Nepal'

    http://som.csudh.edu/cis/lpress/articles/nepalcase.htm

A more elaborate version of the Nepal study prepared for the International Telecommunications Union:

    http://www.itu.int/ITU-D/ict/cs/nepal/material/nepal.pdf

'Against All Odds: The Internet in Bangladesh':

    http://som.csudh.edu/fac/lpress/devnat/nations/Bangladesh/bdmosaic.htm

    'The Internet in Cuba':

    http://som.csudh.edu/fac/lpress/devnat/nations/cuba/cubasy.htm

You can find many more on-line papers dealing with the diffusion of the internet in a whole assortment of nations (such as Singapore, Turkey and Pakistan), by Press and by a number of others at various universities and corporations, by following the links on the pages above.

I don't know if Press teaches in the on-line MBA program. If so, he might be a cool guy to talk to. But even if he doesn't, this is some evidence of what CSUDH SOM people are interested in.

    Hi,

I have completed the CSUDH MBA online program recently. I am very satisfied with the education I have received. I feel that it offers very good value. The professors and courses were very interesting. The business school masters very well the on-line technology and makes very good use of it. The administration is run by nice people of good will, given the success of the program I recommend to keep on checking that everything goes as planned.
The format of the courses changes with each prof , but usually is made of one major text book some time two, pdf, ppt and course outline accessible online, weekly individual or group assignments- mostly Harvard case studies- submitted on line. Some courses use threads discussions. If working I recommend a two courses load, I made a big mistake taking four the first semester. The level is good, I had a 650 GMAT but that was the easy part. I found that I benefited from what I learned from the first class and I realized that the more I put in it, the more I got from it. Over all a great experience. I would do it again any time.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Bear and the members of this board for their job in spreading the word about DL. It changed my life.

Note: I bought the 89-90 Bear's guide through a small add in between "state approved school" larger adds- I am glad I didn't go with those-. The info in the guide was overwhelming but a one page insert in the book helped me. John Bear wrote after some details about credit card payments " Now, as long as I have all this space on the page , let me address a matter that a great many people ask about: what are the "best" schools.... I probably received the most favorable mail about these:

Bachelor's : University of the State of New York and Thomas Edison State College
Master's : California State University at Dominguez Hills, Empire State College, Central Michigan University.
Doctorate: Union Graduate School, Nova University and Walden University,... "

This advice has worked great for me so far. Thank you.

@ Tyo007: thanks a lot for your response.

Does the "one major text book" line mean you need to buy additional books at your local bookstore (or via amazon, e.g.)?

(could become a major problem for me, since most American textbooks are not available in Germany, or it takes years and costs far too much to order them in the States and let them be sent via mail...)

If so, I guess I should better search for a program that it TOTALLY online (there are some, if I remember correctly, right?)

And, Bill, of course thank you also very much.

    Greets,

Books will add about $800-1000 to the cost of the CSUDH MBA. (but they look great of my shelves)

Triggersoft, You may want to consider getting the books via the local Amazon branch, that is www.Amazon.de in Germany so you get US books at US prices in Germany with free delivery for orders of more than Euro 20 !!!

    Cheers,
    Bert,

    @ Tyo007: yes, amazon.de´s where I usually order,
but my experiences with English speaking items have not been the best so far (usually, amazon.de is a lot better in getting the amazon.co.uk books than getting the US pendants... :( )

    Thanks anyway,

do you thing I could contact you via e-mail? Would be a great help.

    Greets,

If you are looking for a DL MBA without buying Text books you can try Touro International University. www.tourou.edu
Its RA (Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools) and totally online.
Search for Touro and you will see lots of discussions on the same.
