I Steven King, thank you...as I'm sure Steve King does, as well. We both graduated from Touro's MBA program.

    Good luck!

    Wish me good luck

Thanks to you too; also Elias and other members who indirectly helped me taking a major decision.

Thanks for the thank you. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you during the first semester there. It can seem a bit intimidating during your first semester at TUI; but once you're finished with your first semester you can't wait to start your next semester.

By the way, I've decided to go back. Next semester I will begin the long road toward a Ph.D. in Health Sciences. I can't wait!

Again, best of luck! You won't regret it.

Congrat. Steve!! Work is hard and enjoyable... I have to admit though the dissertation phase is toxic :)

    Hi friends.

I´ve had some e-mail contact with Touro regarding an MBA (yes, I´m still searching :( ), but, to be frankly, I don´t really UNDERSTAND what the say... Here´s the conversation:

    My question:

I do hold most of your requirements so far (TOEFL, Bachelor equivalent
German university degree), and have already passed some Master level classes in a resident German MBA program (to be more specific, I think I will hold about 33 of 60 necessary credits for the MBA in October when results arrive).

Since I´m thinking about moving to Spain, the completion of an Online MBA program might be the best choice for me.

Would it generally be possible to transfer some of my MBA credits into your program since it would have been very unlucky to lose them...? If so, what´s the limit of credits to transfer into your MBA program?

What would the normal aplication process look like for a foreigner like me? Should I let my German university credentials earned so far be evaluated by an American Evaluator like ECE or WES or would you do that in house?

    TOURO´s answer:

Please refer to the following link to view the courses available in the MBA program: http://www.tourou.edu/CBA/MBA/Main.htm
We may be able to transfer a maximum of six (6) credits of transfer from your current MBA program, given they match our course content. For more information in regard to International Students, please refer to http://www.tourou.edu/FAQ's/studentsMain.htm
We do not require GMAT scores for admission into our MBA program.

    My question:
But one question remains: how would a credit transfer of 6 credits help me if you do only have 4-credit-courses?
Wouldn´t that mean that only 4 credits could be waived? (that would be very little compared to what I already earned at my residential MBA program).

That would mean bad luck for me, since your program really looks very interesting

    TOURO´s answer:

If we do transfer in 6 credits that match our course description, we will require one elective in any subject matter to fulfill the credit remaining from transfer. Six credits of transfer usually comes from two 3-credit courses. We can only transfer in 6 credits as precluded by California State Law. This is due in part to the fact that the MBA program requires only 36 credits and at 30 credits must be taken in residence with the program.

    Okay,

    to sum up:

    it´s a 36 semester credits hours program,
each course has 4 semester credit hours,
whicht means the whole program constists of 9 courses.

6 oder the 36 semester credit hours can be waived,
which means 30 semester credit hours remain.

But since there are only 4 semester credit hours courses,
does that mean that only 1 course (out of the 9) could be waived??? (that´s not real good at all...).

Or is my English just too bad to get what Touro likes to tell me?

    NATIVE SPEAKERS, PLEASE HELP ;)

    (THANX!)

It sounds to me as though they would waive up to 2 courses in the MBA curriculum, but they have a 30 credit residency requirement (meaning that you have to take 30 credits from Touro in order for them to grant a degree). So your best case scenario with Touro is that you would have to take 7 courses from their MBA program (if you were exempted from 2 of them), plus 1 elective course in any subject (in order to reach at least 30 credits total).

I don't think I've come across a US online MBA program that would require less that 8 courses, no matter how many credits you have to transfer. I've seen a few schools that only have a 15 credit residency requirement, but none with online MBA programs. Has anyone come across one?

You might want to look at some of the Australian schools - they seem to be more liberal about allowing previous coursework to be applied toward a degree. I think that allowing 50% of coursework in transfer/exemptions often seems to be acceptable. Also, courses from Australian schools can be a great buy compared to even low rates in the US. Since you don't live in the US I really can't see any disadvantage to going with an Australian school vs. a US school...

    @ Gary:

yes, you´re right with the Aussie schools. USQ is one of my last picks.

The thing why CSUDH or Touro could be more interesting to me is not the tuition but the fact that you can do EVERYTHING online (including the exams/papers) at the American programs, whereas the Aussie programs mostly end with hard proctored semester end examinations :( .

    Thanks anyway,

so it sounds like I would have to take 8 courses at Touro, if 1 gets waived, right?

    :( again.

    Greets,
    Trigger

That is correct. I also had a similar situation upon joining Touro and took an additional elective (Management of E-commerce) it was fun!
