I am currently enrolled in the BSBA program at UoP. I was previously enrolled at Cal State Bakersfield. The classes at Uop are more rigorous. Actually UoP is much more difficult. The stigma attached to the school is, in my opinion, a travesty.

UOP is the largest private university in America

If you don't like UOP - your un-American

    I believe you mean, "..... you're un-American."

One of the interesting things I found at SJSU's business school. I found the administration to be quite helpful, friendly, and willing to do whatever they could to be helpful. However, the school itself was overly bureaucratic and in many ways their methods quite archaic. I was of the opinion the school should have let the College of Business and the IT department have their way with the university to streamline and update the campus.

Is UoPhx any better? No, not really. While there are areas where the school leverages technology in instructional delivery and some minor administrative functions, a lot of the work is still manual.

No better. How about no worse.

San Jose State. Now that is a nice B&M school. You stated that UoP is no better than SJSU. I do not think that it is.
However, UoP is much better than CSUB. Not all CSU's are created equal. Sandiego State is a very fine school. Fresno State is not bad. CSDH has a decent DL reputation. I have heard good things about CSUHayward. I have no experience with other CSU's maybee CSUB is simply the worst. In any event, it is hard to judge a system by a single campus. But I assure you that the students at UoP Northern Cali are learning more than thier CAL State counterparts.

You misinterprewted my "no better than" statement. The general gist of MY message (which was in a different direction of the original poster) was in regard to the administrative aspects of the schools.

As for UoPhx students learning- I agree they do. However, i disagree that they are are learning more than the CSU counterparts. As a graduate of both UoPhx and SJSU, and an instructor at the UoPhx No. Cal. campus, I stated in the past there is essentially little difference in the percentage of serious students. There is, however, a different focus on the the directions of the MBA programs. UoPhx is less quantitative (IMHO) than SJSU. UoPhx focuses on different things. This is no different than the focus of Stanford, Hah-vahd, etc.

As I 'splain to folks the best MBA program is the one that matches what you want to get out of the program.

    Uop vs. CSUB

I meant only that UoP was better than Cal State Bakersfield. There is no doubt in my mind that many of the other CSU's are far superior to UoP or CSUB. The point that I meant to illustrate was that a state name doesn't always mean a good, or even better than average education. I do however believe that the "average" UoP student learns as much or more than the "average" state school student.
I am reffering to the CSU system not the UC system.

    CSUB

Hey I live in Bakersfield. I wish CSUB could be a source of pride, but it isn't. Believe me CSUB is an inferior school.
There are some great faculty at CSUB, but for the most part they use adjunct faculty for undergrad classes. No PhD's at all, well very few, ok a rather low percentage. The problem with CSUB lies with whom they cater to. I mean they target a minority population as their best consumers. Yes I said consumers Andy. You should see what happens around here if there is a decline in enrollment! Before you go pulling out the race card on me be advised that I am of Mexican heritage.

    Re: CSUB

Pickelhead - I don't deny that students are consumers. They can walk with their money (or their parent's money or Uncle Sam's money) down the street to another school. But they are also "pupils". As such they come to school to learn things they don't know from faculty who do.

Faculty have an obligation to do what is best for their students - even when the student doesn't totally understand why.

    Regards - Andy
