    Hi there !

Can someone advise me on a university with a good degree on Music ? or just on Music Theory ?

Also , is there an university that has such degrees on the UK, or on another
european country ? (I live in Portugal and I presume since I'm not an
american citizen that I would have to pay quite a lot of money to get a
    degree at an american university)

    Thanks in advance !

A better place to search for UK qualifications is the newly updated British Council website.

Open University only offers about half an undergraduate degree in music. You can either take a BA in Humanities with Music, or if you just want to study music, you could just take their Diploma in Music. The first half of the Diploma will involve a one week residential Summer School, otherwise it is pure distance learning. The Diploma course normally takes two years. The BA would normally take 6 years. You could follow either with the MA in Music (a further 3 years).

If you want a degree in Opera Studies you could look at Rose Bruford College (http://www.bruford.ac.uk/). That degree is awarded by Manchester University.

I know of no other distance learning music degrees in UK. There are also professional music diplomas (of a comparable standard to a degree, but covering less ground) from Trinity College of Music (now part of the University of Greenwich) and (I think) the London College of Music (now part of Thames Valley University). You can obtain distance learing tuition for the Trinity College diplomas from Rugby College (http://www.rugby-college.ac.uk/).
